I just saw Bon Cop, Bad Cop. I think any hockey fan would truly enjoy that movie!

Not really. I'm used to crap from my goalies.

I switched not because of the shut out, but because it is now obvious that Rollie will start far less than half.

I have done a really bad job managing the goalies though.

However, I will note that I didn't drop Kane.

Looks like the Flames streak is coming to an end with spectacular fashion tonight.

All good things must come to an end...

My mistake was probably more not making getting a top RW more of a priority in the draft. Hell I believe I didn't pick my second RW until round 12 or 13. I have made a bunch of mistakes at various points, thats for sure.

AS for dropping Kane?.. sure I wouldn't mind having him in my lineup . .. good numbers there-- but lets look at his numbers and my current RWs

          Kane 9G 30A Minus 5 3 PPG 13PPA
          Sharp 21G 13A PLUS 12 6 PPG 2 PPA
          Pominville10G 24A PLUS 4 1 PPG 10PPA
          Cleary 15G 14A Plus 16 5 PPG 5PPA

So Sharp and Cleary beat Kane 3 categories to 2 and even Pominville edges him in 2 categories.

IF you look at my team, I was winning assists a LOT early and almost always struggling for goals so despite the fact that Kane has the most points, if I had to choose today solely on the numbers, I would pick Sharp over Kane.

Pominville v Kane? They have very similar numbers but Kane has been a better performer thus far-- but I expect better things from Buffalo and hopefully Pomenville too-- I have been a bit disappointed in him.

Cleary?? He's just my pick of the week but hell he has clear edges in THREE categories even though on pace for 20 fewer points overall. Arguably he is a better choice for many teams depending on whether they "need " assists or goals.

Bottom line, if I was drafting for an NHL team I would take Kane over all these guys. But for a pool where winning 5 categories matter??

          Oh ya

If you want to get a slam in -- slam me for my drop of Kovalev-- look at those numbers, particularly on the power play-- He trounces Kane on THREE categories and ties him in another-- If you look at the history, I dropped Kane to pick up Kovalev (Oct 25)

          Kovalev 18G 21A Plus6 10 PPG 13PPA

I could understand Asher thanking me for Kane since Asher picked him up but Kovalev is the drop I regret. So if anyone other than Asher wants to get a dig in, thats the one to use.

Asher can continue to thank me for Kane, of course

OH and I am sure we all made lots of mistakes along the way. I actually don't mind having mine pointed out. To me its actually fun to second-guess and critique picks and decisions-- I wish there was a bit more of that in here

Your lack of focus on goalies was obviously a strategic decision to emphasize offense. If you can snare some hot emerging goalies it may work out quite well.

Too bad you didn't snare Bryzgalov-- although your current two have had some pretty good performances and are likely going to be starters for a while

Flubber any chance we will get to see the first 8-0-0 week this week? Off to a great start so far!

(though last time I played you I was trouncing you early in the week and you came back to tie me on the weekend so I won't start counting chickens just yet!)

Its possible man-- When I saw the games scores and saw that the teams my guys were on were winning 75% of the games last night I was like ALL-RIGHT-- Then I check the stats and almost all of them were pointless and minus-- Team leading 4-1 and my guy was MINUS 1

Then you get a shutout from Ward and have Luongo dragging you down -- Luongo is the goalie I would most like to have right now as he has often been AMAZING

I think the stats that are most often offside are plus minus and shutouts and since you have those firmly headed your way, you probably have a better chance than most to get 8-0-0 week.

Nobody ever answered if it ever happened before though--

I had one week where I think I led 8-0-0 as late as Thursday but I think even that one ended as a 5-1-2

Wasn't that the week that Ottawa didn't play at all? I remember that as my problem week thats for sure and was quite pleased with a 3-3-2 at the end of the day. Given our respective starts I would be delighted to manage a tie again

THis is a weird week for me goalie-wise since I have 0 games until Thursday and then I have the potential for 6 games ( as long as I watch Ottawa closely enough to start the right guy)-- Some tough opponents in there too. Bottom line is that I have to be trailing in goalies now -- I just wish you hadn't started so strong Luongo I expect but a shutout from Ward !!!!!???? #$%$##

Offense?? Well with about 20 skater games each to go, I know I wouldn't be very comfortable with leads of 2 or less.

Goalies? -- I don't like my chances when Luongo has 3 more potential starts-- I'll be watching the Canucks game with San Jose with intense interest since "wins" could be over after that one. ( and San Jose has inexplicably REALLY sucked at home).

Lots to play yet-- but its undeniable that you have a pretty good upper hand

                    You guys seen this?

They asked 10 people who clearly have no business being GM who they would trade Sundin for. Craig Button takes the cake:

                    CRAIG BUTTON

                    Former Calgary Flames GM.

I would trade Sundin to Calgary for ...

Matthew Lombardi, C. 25 years old. In 43 games, has 9 goals, 12 assists.

                    Mikael Backlund, C. 18 years old. Calgary's first-round pick, 24th overall, in 2007.

Dustin Boyd, C. 21 years old. In 19 games, has 3 goals, 2 assists.

Two first-round picks in the next three years taken at the discretion of the Leafs prior to the selection at the draft. "That would allow the Leafs the opportunity to maximize the picks." The Leafs would demand a second-round pick in the year they didn't take a first-rounder.

I hadn't but the one you quoted was just one of the many very high valuations-- According to these guys, it seems the price for an aging superstar seems to be around 1-3 third or fourth line guys PLUS 1-3 high draft picks.

Button's package of 2 NHL regulars (both 3rd line although Lombardi has shown flashes of much more and Boyd will probably become a second-liner over the years), a good prospect and THREE draft picks was merely on the highest end of a pretty high range. I'm just glad he's not in a position to make that trade.

Don't get me wrong-- Sundin could probably help a few teams. There are times when he has seemed to take the Leafs on his back and will them to victory through his own efforts. But thats also a black mark as he has been a leader of an eminently unsuccessful team.

That I hadn't hear it. If true it shows that they truly intend to keep him around

Those are serious dollars . I have mixed feelings. With pronger and Niedemeyer making less than 7, I just don't know if his three pretty good years warrants a 6 mil a year deal yet .

I like Phaneuf a lot as a player and still see a lot of upside. This guy could be a Norris trophy winner someday. But 6 million to me is a guy that already has a Norris type season or two under his belt (although arguably Phaneuf could be in the running this year).

Flip side is that he is already way more valuable to the Flames than a bunch of 3-4 million guys are to their respective teams.

Mixed feelings. Within 5 years I think he will absolutely have a resume that calls for more than 6 million a year-- he might even seem a bargain then. But right now it seems a lot
