AHL- Apolyton Hockey League 07/08: V Blades of Glory
1. They don't have them in the playoffs and
2. You need to be at least moderately ok at the other part of the game to get there-- I think I have said at least 3 or 4 times in this thread that I have been surprised at how well the Oil have played on some nights.
Again as I have said previosuly, if the OIL can succeed in the shootouts, good for them. Its the rules.. BUT their lack of success otherwise means they have lost in regulation more games than they have won by any method
Oh and its hypocritical to slam the Flames 'loser points" while trumpeting the Oil's shootout points. Both are in the rules-- If the Flames can exceed the Oil while getting one point for every tie to two for the Oil well, good for the Flames-- You can't have it both ways-- either you want to religiously measure sucess by how they actually count the points or you don't--
Yes, you've said how surprised you are that the Oilers were not 29th in the league. That's what it amounted to.
I am shocked! Shocked I tell you, that a Flames homer is surprised the Oilers are not 29th.
Incidently, I already explained that to get to the shoot-out, the team getting there had not been scored on. That's something, no?
And, dude, I'm not slamming anything in a void. Read the ****ing thread!

And I'll go back to... if the Flames didn't get points for losing, they would not be far ahead of the Oilers.
And you don't get points for losing in the playoffs.
Weird self-defeating argument. The Oil have more shootout win points than the Flames have SO/OT loss points-- Since teams get neither in the playoffs you should either count both or neither if playoff applicability is your test
You don't get to 300 losses without being a pretty exceptional goaltender.-- Ben Kenobi speaking of Roberto Luongo

Yes-- I thought that they would be worse than they are-- While they have not won a lot in regulation, their ability to hold good teams to ties was pretty good

Never a reason to slam anyone that has not slammed you . My previous comment stands on that

Here's your first clue. I'll rent this one to you, cheap.
I never said that any of this applied to the playoffs, other than not being beat in OT was a plus.
It's the regular season, and I'd say it is severely premature to apply the playoffs to either of the Flames or Oilers. They will both miss from what I've seen.

I bet you the Flames make the playoffs-- Loser to exhibit a (moderator acceptable ) quotation of winner's choice for the duration of the 2008 NHL playoffs

You seem to want to subtract certain points ( your "loser points" ) from the Flames standings in assessing them as a team. Since these are totally within the rules and will determine who makes the playoffs I don't really understand your argument.
