Maybe, but 2857 career points by Gretzky is, imo, unbreakable.

                Cy Young. Won't be touched.

I don't think Brady will beat Unitas, Manning has been more consistant for a longer run of time, and hasn't come close to breaking it.

                Same with DiMaggio's hit streak.

Hockey, no one is breaking 22 shut outs in a season, Gretzky's assists, goals and points record in a season, his points and assists records for his career won't be touched.

The only IMPOSSIBLE one is Cy Young.

The 2 Chamberlain ones are nearly impossible. Rebounds probably more unlikely than points. All the other ones are varying degrees of possible.

I agree that Cy Young's will never, ever, be broken unless somebody invents a youth serum enabling pitchers to play into their 50s.

I like DiMaggio so I vote for his hitting streak.

The 22 shutouts record seems unlikely, but not impossible to me. The rest seem possible.

Unlike baseball, I think hockey is a sport that will be prone to many rule changes, in an attempt to woo more fans. Thats why I don't deem any record impossible.

                        Most goals, one season: 92

                        Most assists: 1,963

                        Most assists, one season: 163

                        Most points: 2,857

                        Most points, one season: 215
To put it in perspective, the number 2 in points has a hundred fewer then Gretzky has assists. Gretzky has nearly 2x as many points as anyone else. It would be like someone trying to reach 6000 hits in a career, you'd have to hit 300 a year for 20 years.

Unless they change the rules Ben. A previous poster already mentioned the American preference for sports with higher scoring. The NHL is an American controlled league. After the glowing blue puck fiasco anything is possible.

There's one hockey record that will never be beaten because it's almost unbelievable.

In 1952, playing for the Black Hawks against the Rangers, Bill Mosienko got the fastest hat trick in NHL history: three goals in 21 seconds.

Gretzky's peers did very well in the overall tallies, and there are a disproportionate number on the career records lists in the years that he played. Even given the much more open era in his day, he is still twice as effective as most folks are for points and assists. That to me says it all. If the rules are changed, scoring will go up but I still don't think his record will ever be touched.

What was wrong with the glowing puck? It made it much easier for my grandmother to follow the action...
