  • Who here thinks he might be the better option for 1st quarterback there... or at least second (if green gets hurt)...

      • First thing that I thought of was, too bad the Bears let go what may have been a viable alternative at QB.
What happenis if Griese gets hurt?

          • By hurt I mean if he is gone for the season (I thought he had a chance to play this week, last I saw?).

Kyle Orton is the best QB on the team anyway...

            • If I agreed with that, it would be even sadder.
Here's the question, draft or trade? Trade who? Briggs?
That ship left port, didn't it?

              • Look at free agents and draft a QB early.

The supposed agreement for Briggs coming to camp wasZ: no franchise tag, free to go as free agent in 08. But there are rumors that the Briggs camp is willing to talk. I fully expect him to walk. Someone will pay his price -- especially if he keeps knocking down double-digit tackles every week.

Basically, this year was supposed to be the Bears' big oppty, but it depended on both Rex and Cedric being good. Neither could overcome the bad O-line. Now the Bears have to play it out and see what happens. If they turn it around, they'll just tinker/upgrade. If they struggle, there will be major changes.

But Rex will be on the free agent market for sure.

                  • Too soon for that. But drop the next two and we'll probably see Orton.

                    • Procrastination is what they call that viewpoint.
Why put off 2 weeks when it can be started today?

                      • I kind of missed last off season. Exactly why did the Bears not get a QB last off season?

Yes I can see from the above article on Testaverde that QB's are real hard to find right now. But why is most teams can get a QB, but not the bears?

                            • Thanks GT

Seriously, I think part of it was also that there wasn't anyone really good out there. I still would've liked to have seen Trent Green (though he'd probably have ended up injured ) or someone else here, but next year hopefully there will be more QBs on the market.

Byron Leftwich also would've been nice... sigh ...

Romo's father diagnosed with prostate cancer

                                Associated Press

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo's father has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

"You just love your dad, you want him to be all right," Romo said Friday. "It's just part of getting older, and it happens to a lot of people. So, it's just another step in the path of life."

                                Ramiro Romo, 50,
                                CRAPSKI!
found out he had cancer just days after he and his wife were at Soldier Field in Chicago on Sept. 23 watching their son throw for 329 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-10 victory over the Bears. They will be at Texas Stadium on Sunday when the Cowboys play the New England Patriots in a much-hyped matchup of 5-0 teams.

Tony Romo, who has thrown an NFC-high 13 touchdown passes but is coming off a six-turnover game the Cowboys won at Buffalo, said his father's cancer hasn't affected him on the field.

"When you get out on the field, everything else just kind of goes away. You just go out there and try to do your best," Romo said, tearing up a bit as he walked away. "Obviously, you keep people in your prayers, and that's part of it. Hopefully, people will keep my pops in their prayers."

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Romo has been handling the situation fine.

"It wouldn't surprise me at all if his dad at different points of the day isn't on his mind," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "Hopefully, he can, with that in perspective, go on to play like he wants to play and his dad wants him to play."
