He knew he was up by 8, inside the 15, 3rd and 8, 7 minutes left. Just run to the middle of the field and set up the FG. He was the master of this kind of passive-aggressive strategy in Chicago, and won 13 games one year with an inferior team that way.

Why he put his rookie QB in that position tonight, I'll never know.

Yeah, there was plenty of time left; you can't really say how the game would unfold if they just go up by 11 and kick off. But a young underdog team that put on that kind of effort deserved better. Jauron failed them.

And shame on the national media for not calling him on it.

    • Oh, sorry. Yeah I agree with you. I thought you meant going for it on 4th and 1 in the 1st Quarter instead of kicking an FG.

      • Jauron failed them: somehow I expect Buffalo fans won't have to say that very many more times. 11 more at most, and even that I don't necessarily expect.

Second week in a row I've gone 3-0 after three consecutive 1-2 starts (1 win on each of my three teams in weeks 1-3)... the Ronnie Brown Resurgence

          • It's not over until the Passes Defensed stats are added and tackle totals confirmed and posted at Yahoo. One week last year, I went to bed a loser and woke up a winner.

For there to be a Ronnie Brown REsurgence, he would have to have surged initially...

              • Ronnie had a good few weeks last year, thank you very much... enough for me to trade him in a package for Peyton Manning that won me that league

                • He had about 3 good weeks to start his rookie year, too. I thought better of the post after I had shut down for the night.

                  • Ronnie has been my stud in my fantasy league. He was my number 3 running back drafted... and now my number one!
Far better than Cedric Benson... right Jr

                    • Yeah, well Brown has an injury history and is playing on a bad offense. He was undervalued in every league I've seen.

You would have taken Benson in a heartbeat.

                      • I took Brown over Benson in at least one of these leagues, if not more. I worried for a few weeks that he'd have the same problem LJ is having.

Now if only LJ could figure out how to run in a bad offense

                        • With Trent Green down, Ronnie will have a target on his jersey, too. It'll be interesting to see if he continues to prosper.

                          • I'd have laughed my ass off if Folk had missed his 1st attempt when they called time out, giving him another chance.

                              • My problem with this "tactic" is that it has absolutely nothing at all to do with playing the game of football.

It has nothing to do with offensive or defensive strategy or talented players or leadership or teamwork or any of the things that go into winning a football game; it's just a trick that takes advantage of the fact that football isn't a videogame where everything happens immediately as soon as you decide what to do.

Now, if I were a coach in the NFL paid to take my team to the Superbowl, I would play within the rules of the game and take full advantage of any trick I could think of, but I wouldn't be happy about doing this. Who wants to win a football game this way? Where's the fun in that?
