Christ, our bullpen sucks ass.

We need Rogers back in the rotation, put Miller and Miner in the pen for now, and get Zumaya in the closer spot as soon as he's healthy and capable.

If not for the bullpen, we'd have the best record in the majors the way the team is hitting.

Hopefully Robinson will be back soon too.

So then the question will be, which one of Durbin, Maroth and Miller stays a starter, who gets put in the bullpen, and who gets dropped back to the minors.

I'm surprised at how many runs the Tigers are scoring. Ordonez is having an absolute monster season, and Sheff is doing better than I expected (though I figured he'd be pretty good). Guillen is having another very good season (must suck to watch that from Seattle, eh?).

Right now that trade with the Yanks is looking pretty good for the Tigers. The main prospect we got pretty much immediately blew out his elbow. Meanwhile, the Yanks could really have used Sheff... at least if he'd have agreed to play first, which was by no means a given.

The Rockies are simply owning the AL East, they won series against Baltimore, Boston, Tampa Bay and now the Yankees. We'll see in the w-e if Toronto can stop the trend.

that's a really hard choice. I think solely for run production, I go for A-Rod, but Magglio's BA impresses me more.

Tigers' lead in the AL Central goes up to 1.5.

Here's a nice stat to differentiate between them:

Batting Average with runners in scoring position:

Magglio: .464(!!!)
A-Rod: .325

Hard to find a website that will offer that filter and be able to figure out where they rank, but near as I can tell, Maggs is a very comfortable #1, and A-Rod is down in the #25 range.

201 OPS+ to a 191 OPS+, and A-Rod's the better defender (by a decent deal, IMO).

And, realistically, he is the only reason the Yankees are even in the race right now (they are 6.5 back in the Wildcard, which is definitely doable).

FWIW, Magg's FPCT is .993, while A-Rod's is .973. Obviously, very different positions, but A-Rod is about middle of the pack for starting AL 3B, while (obviously) Maggs is near the top for OF (#2 RF, as it turns out).

Correction: that would make A-Rod 4th among AL 3B. Mea culpa.
