Not often you see players play the way he can. He is far from a finished product though and that, sportsfans, is why Edmonton, and a lot of other people in hockey, 'have such a hardon' for Hemsky.

Enjoy Hemsky...I haven't seen any real improvement over last season. In fact, his +/- rating is worse now than it was when Edmonton was an even worse team back in his rookie season in 2002.

You think +/- is a meaningless stat? It's perhaps the most important stat when you look at players like Hemsky who are NOT gritty and who ARE defensive liabilities.

I really don't like players who can score 78 goals a season if 150 more get scored against them at the same time.

The Oilers were a worse team when he had a higher +/-.

When he's on a team that makes it to game 7 of the final, he still gets scored on more than he scores.

Context is key, but he's still a defensive liability. I see him make more turnovers than scoring opportunities.

If you think +/- is the most important stat for a player like Hemsky there is no hope for you.
