That's not DC United's MO. I don't think the club would ever sign a pretty decent Euro star, if only because it's very tough to get value. Now if you mention pretty decent Argie or Brazilian stars, we might have a discussion, but at a much lower price point. I have never heard of our front office looking at the European market.

In any event, one thing arguing for keeping the slot, but not using it, is that you don't want others to have 2 slots. But if the deal has good value, I would trade it.

Sorry, but I treat that spot like gold as long as the salary cap is as low as it is. After all, what if your best player wants a $500,000 a year deal? If you don't have the slot, you won't be able to resign him.

For DC United, that would be Christian Gomez, league MVP and a former Argie (Arsenal de Sarandi) castoff. Even this upcoming year he isn't getting paid near the $400,000 per player cap, AFAIK.

Hes been pretty ineffective for us, i doubt he'll be much more useful (on the pitch) to LA.

Though if you READ THE ARTICLE ( ), it says FC Dallas is talking to him. Dallas is a bit away from LA .

BTW i dont get your sig Imran, most fans i know like NC, their fans are some of the best in Britain. Generally hated teams are more like Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool, with Chelsea moaners slowly catching up.

I read the article the sig is from, it was a Yanks guide on which EPL team to support and why. Some of it was funny, most of it was pretty accurate......some of it wasn't so accurate....

Yeah, sort your sig out Imran. The only team that hates Newcastle is Sunderland, so stop flattering yourself . Arsenal-Spurs and Man Utd-Liverpool are the main EPL rivalries atm.

The Arsenal v Spurs Carling Cup semi final should be tasty - despite the tournament being seen as the least important cup on the calendar. If Arsenal, who always put out a reserve team for the CC, are still unbeaten at the new stadium for the home leg and Spurs win with the first XI they are likely to put out, we'll be hearing about it for a thousand years.

Well I can only speak for myself, but as a Newcastle fan I hate: Man U, Chelsea, Bolton, Everton, Blackburn, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Norwich, Leicester, Leeds, Sunderland, Bayern Munich, Olympique Marseille, and that Ronnie Radford clip.

I think the article is trying to communicate the fervour that Newcastle's fans can stir up for even the most meaningless encounters, rather than a hatred for a particular team.

Its obvious hatred for a club among other fans comes from recent success of said club. Which is why everyone likes Newcastle (plus the Keegan incident lol)

The recent success of Chelsea doesn't engender hatred. It's the fact they bought their way there. You didn't notice Arsenal in my list of hated teams did you? I hate Man U not because of their success, but because their fans are so odious, very few of whom are from Manchester, and the way the players moan about every decision yet think nothing of their own players committing the most despicable fouls.
