*Thats what bothers me most, people make a joke of September 11th.*

I remember everything like it was yesterday. I had just gotten to school after the 1st plane hit and we were sitting waiting for class to start when we watched the 2nd plane hit. I wrote an article for my company yesterday about 9-11 and how it is not important to remember as an American, but for the world to remember. What happened on that day affected the entire world one way or another. And it is disgusting that people make a joke about it. Oerdin, DaShi, etc. way to disrespect the dead, make a mockery of the attacks, you can't even put politics away to remember the dead...I pity those of you who mock 9-11. You just have no idea.

That is the largest reason it's unfunny.

Oh brother... how many years do we really have to wait before it can be comic fare? 9 years? 15? 50? The kid in the video actually made a good point - I don't see anyone significantly changing their behavior on Pearl Harbor day, and why? Mere passage of time? Either something's tragic or it isn't.
              Unbelievable!

Jews make jokes about the Holocaust.

Why can't Americans make fun of 9/11? Why should our actions be determined by the "evil doers" (by this I mean Republicans).

Either people have empathy or they're dumb-asses. That makes it easier to comprehend.
Che, just because you say Jews make holocaust jokes doesn't it mean it's the norm, or that it's even remotely true.
It just means you said it.

I just wanted to say that I only brought up the true tragedy of 9/11. The tragedy that we all live with everyday since that event. We should use the remembrance to look at what has happened to us since then and what we can do to correct the horrible problems that have arisen and festered from it.

Not really funny to me. The content is meaningless other than to the extent it makes me find it in poor taste. I can't speak for the taste of others though. The fact Carrot Top once found work is proof enough of that.

                                Actually, no.

For some people, with empathy, when confronted with a tragedy on that scale, the only way they can learn to accept it and move on, growing as a person, is to start to poke fun at how absurd, how terribly horrifying it was, and to cut it down into smaller, digestible pieces that can be looked at askance and askew.

I make light of my parents' divorce, of my minority status, because if I didn't, I'd be upset about both. I have to make light of 9/11, because if I didn't, I'd lose faith in what little humanity there is in humanity.

It's not a binary thing, SlowwHand. It's not because I'm a dumbass (well, not in this case). It's because the alternative would be to remain bitter, unhappy, unable to process what happened, and live again.

Heck, I know some things I find hard to laugh at, still. The Japanese Occupation of 1920-1945; anything Ben says. But eventually I'll get there.
