Also, I'd like to see the studies that you're basing your comments of unhealthiness on.
After the game.

Ben, haven't read the whole thread but how does gay marriage induce ill health? I dont have all the studies at my fingertips but I've consistently heard people in long lasting stable relationships (marriages) do better health wise.

It's what I thought too, but risk taking behaviours are still way out of proportion. Drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, etc for those who are defined in long term relationships. Even the definitions have to be rejigged, specifically what counts as a 'long-term stable relationship', in order to get meaningful sample sizes.

Finally - I got you to admit the truth of how you really feel about equal marriage rights for gays. You're opposed to it.
This is lame, even from you.
Almost any phrase that has "messing with . . ." has a negative connotation to it, and you know it.
It's like you're saying, christ, since we're dumping brown **** on marriage with advancement of gay marriage, why not dump more brown **** on it with polygamous marriage.
A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.
I don't see what brown **** has to do with anything. I thought I had already disposed of your lame linkage of gay marriage with interracial marriage...
KH FOR OWNER! ASHER FOR CEO!! GUYNEMER FOR OT MOD!!!
The government actively discourages it through increased taxation. Are you saying gay couples should be able to get married, only if they pay higher taxes to compensate the state?
You are the one that keeps bringing up taxation. It's all just a smoke screen on your part. The real issue is, the GOVERNMENT DOES ALLOW unhealthy behaviour... so to use that as a reason do deny gays their rights is BS.
Your argument is empty.
And I've not even posted the numbers yet, and you already know they are biased and from an 'anti-gay' site?
Tough crowd!
Then post them... and the source.
Only under inspection by the authorities. Would you permit gay people to be married, so long as they had to undergo random inspections to ensure their health was maintained to an acceptable level?
Again, you are the one bringing up inspections... The real issue is, the GOVERNMENT DOES ALLOW unhealthy behaviour... so to use that as a reason do deny gays their rights is BS.
Your argument is empty.
They already have the right to sleep with whomever they want. The government does have a role in marriage, which is the whole point of marriage licenses. In issuing marriage licenses they are endorsing a relationship. That is the argument all along for 'acceptance' of gay marriage. They see it as persecution to be denied a license, and they want their relationships to be seen on par with marriage.
What they want is endorsement of an unhealthy lifestyle, no different then government sponsored 'Camel' ads.
And the government doesn't sponsor camel ads... again, the government allows unhealthy lifestyles already... why should that be the argument against gay marriages. As usual, you have no argument here.
So I could marry your wife, with your blessing? Cool, thanks Ming.
Nice try... I said consenting adults. And I'm sure my wife wouldn't consent to marry you. Just another straw man comment on your part... because you have no real arguments.
But are they taking as much risk as the gays who are not in long term relationships? Clearly if they're more monogamous they're reducing most of the risk right there, so it seems to me any "endorsement" (legalization) by society for making and keeping commitments will reduce risk taking by gays.
I don't see what brown **** has to do with anything. I thought I had already disposed of your lame linkage of gay marriage with interracial marriage...
Brown sh*t on marriage, piss on marriage, or whatever other deragatary attitude you have toward gay marriage. Choose whatever word you want to use.
I wasn't referring to interracial marriage with that last post.
But are they taking as much risk as the gays who are not in long term relationships?
You are assuming there's only two ways. Gays in a long term relationship, and gay people who are not. From a health standpoint, there are 4. Gays who are celibate, gay people who get married to a woman and have kids, gay people in a long term relationship, and gay people who are not.
The ranking is 2,1,3,4, with 4 being the worst outcome of all. If you are advising a gay man on how he can keep healthy, 2 and 1 are his best choices. They may not like it, but seldom does anyone like a health regime which fosters diet and exercise either.
Clearly if they're more monogamous they're reducing most of the risk right there, so it seems to me any "endorsement" (legalization) by society for making and keeping commitments will reduce risk taking by gays.
Well the other part of the argument, is that if you encourage something you get more of it. If fewer people get married, then the health outcome for society as a whole has a worse outcome.

Government allows, it doesn't promote. Gay marriage promotes, and that's the difference.

Ok. I was gonna do it after the game, but after that ****ty performance I don't really feel like doing it right now. Sorry.

Oh, and tough luck about that game.
Their play was as faulty as your arguements.

Yep... whatever. We understand it may take you some serious to time to find meaningful stats that back up some of your posts.
Predictions:
1) The most obvious: Because Ben is a habitual liar, either there will be no stats, or there will be stats but they will not support what Ben is saying. Confronted with this, Ben will never claim that he said what he's been saying -- because he's a habitual liar.
But, if there are stats:
2) The stats will claim -- possibly accurately -- a higher alcoholism, drug abuse, and suicide rate among gays and lesbians. It will never occur to Ben that such rates might be a result of living, day in and day out, in a society filled with hateful little trolls like him.
3) The stats will also make claims -- possibly accurately -- of a higher rate of STDs among gay men. Ben will make much of this, while claiming the fact that lesbians have a lower STD rate than the straight population doesn't actually mean anything.
Yeah, call me the Amazing Kreskin.
"I have as much authority as the pope. I just don't have as many people who believe it." — George Carlin
The stats come from a totally biased site and wouldn't be considered legitimate research by anybody with half a brain, and then BK will claim that it is a tough topic to research properly and these are the only stats available, and should be considered proof even though the data sucks
