Oil prices increased by 80% and climbing. That means most of what we can do to make life better for people worldwide has been reduced.

There are probably more people on the margins that will lose their lives due to these cost increases, than the entire 90 million population of Iran. Close to 8 billion people will be worse off to varying extents.

tRump cunningly gained personal control over about 20% of the world's oil earlier this year by attacking Venezuela. There is absolutely no reason the price of oil and gas should go up in the US unless a true robber baron is making a killing.(literally).

And this is the type of partner we have in the endeavor.

not as bad as I expected. still much less than at the start of Trump's term. Part of the reason presidents keep starting these appalling wars of choice is that the hefty fiscal consequences are folded into the already enormous public debt and the appalling human consequences seem to get neatly balanced by the open cheering from victims of the government in control of the target of these wars of choice. maybe instead of vague future debt every war should be funded by binding IOUs on each taxpayer of voting age as of the most recent presidential election. the taxpayer would have to carry the debt until they pay it off (with interest calculated each year based on the level of interest the government would have had to pay) and the overall new war debt per taxpayer calculated based on their gross income that year relative to national GDP. Maybe that would finally get presidents to be more cautious about these adventures?

That was more a question for the TACO in Chief, and it's almost as if he read my post, given his reaction today... 😉

Not sure if you're aware but 50 years ago the US pulled out of a Southeast Asian country known as Vietnam after a prolonged conflict that cost the lives of 50,000 American soldiers and accomplished nothing, not even the elimination of the opposing head of state.

                              Yes, obviously.

But when the supreme leader is still called Khamenei, I doubt Netanyahu has even achieved that... 🤡

This is going to accomplish lots. All of it very bad for the US, both now and in the long run. Chief of which being the dawning realisation that the baton has passed (already) to China. This war represents that inflection point. If that does not represent a catastrophe to the US, then I don't really know what does...?

With friends like Israel, who needs enemies! 🤪🤡🍿
