I'm sure if he gets a second term Project 2025 will be about as useful for predicting his actions as Mao's little red book would have been to predict Kamala's actions as president (that is to say, not much).

I think they may have influence. I think Trump largely ignores their opinion like he does everybody else's and occasionally he takes their ideas and forgets that he didn't innovate those ideas until or unless those ideas end up looking bad later on.

I still maintain that the predictive power is similar. low. If Harris placed an OG Maoist in her cabinet actual policy would be laser focused on the next election not ideology.

          • It might be good fodder for another thread to compare and contrast modern western socialism/policies to both OG Maoist ideology/policies and modern CPC ideology/policies. In many ways economically the modern western socialists will more closely match the OG Maoist than the current CPC does. The overlap between the modern CPC and OG Maoist ideology that excludes overlap with modern socialism is entirely along an axis of authoritarianism, not economics. I respect and admire most socialist democracies (not so-called "democratic socialist" authoritarian dystopias) but economically these mixed economies are not so always so distinct from communist states especially as public sectors grow larger than private sectors.

Anyway, for the record I don't think Mao's little red book would be a good predictor of Kamala's initiatives but I also don't think project 2025 will be a good predictor of Trump's. Trump will definitely appoint a lot of desperate fringe outsiders because he doesn't trust anybody who could get positions without him to be "loyal" and I'm sure the heritage foundation types will seem to fit the bill to him. He will however, ignore their ideas at least as often as he did in his first term.

            • I thought CPC was CCP, but then you did it two more times and now I am confused.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

              • it's usually transliterated to CCP in english I have no idea s to why. it's always written as Communist Party of China. I agree that writing CPC only seems to confuse people though so I suppose I should cave.

Trump Disavowed Project 2025 During the Campaign. Not Anymore. President-elect Donald J. Trump has filled his administration with people who have ties to the right-wing manifesto.

golly gee willikers, who could have seen this coming?

They will be the people in power, the people running agencies, the people hiring and firing civil servants, so that's what the Federal government under Trump is going to do.

                    • I'm totally stumped and surprised. Nobody could have predicted this. The president elect lying about such fundamental things? And him also being a former president!

                      • There are too many positions in government and Trump is too lazy for his disinterest in policy to prevent his appointees from doing what they want to do. In a minority of cases, if something gets brought to his attention for whatever reason, he might overrule something his administration does for some dumb reason. But the vast majority of the time, the Project 2025 people he's appointing are just going to do what they said they were going to do.

CCP is CCCP after the brother people ran away. So basically Russia today.
