Sorry, Lori. I was speaking more generally; did not mean to make it seem a personal critique.

Rent prices have tripled in Springfield as 20,000 asylum fraudsters and illegal aliens flood into a community of only 60,000 people

Not going to watch your YouTube link, but here are some facts from the GOP-led government of Springfield, OH:
        (story by Reuters)
Data from Springfield's experience of the last few years paints a nuanced picture of the impact of rapid population growth.

Local rents did increase at the third-fastest pace among cities from May 2022 through the end of 2023, rising at a 14.6% annualized pace, data from Zillow shows. But the market also appears to be normalizing: Rents this year have risen at a modest 3.2% pace, 68th fastest among 400 cities sampled.

Comment: "increase at 3rd-fastest pace" does not mean "tripled."

Local wages were slow to take off during the post-pandemic job market reshuffling, data from Chmura Economics & Analytics' JobsEQ shows. But through the years associated with rising Haitian immigration, wages grew at a more than 6% annual pace for more than two years, about twice as much as seen nationally.

Just how many Haitians have arrived here remains unclear. Estimated at as many as 20,000 in the letter Vance read to Powell, city officials have since estimated that number between 12,000 and 15,000 based on driver's license and state identification data.

why do you characterize them as asylum fraudsters? Rent prices tripled? what about unskilled labor? maybe those prices have been dropping?

        asylum fraudsters
Republicans can't seem to give up on this FAKE story... which is causing serious harm with all the bomb threats and threats against people who aren't white. But what the hell, it plays well to the bigoted Maga crowd.

Yes, 95% of those claiming asylum get rejected by the courts. Buden-Harris's big change is they just let all of them in before the courts approved their claim. Before they had to wait in a safe 3rd country for approval before being let loose in the U S. That is a massive change especially given the 95% rejection rate

So, yes, legally the vast majority are committing asylum fraud, making knowingly false claims to abuse the system and the taxpayersnof the United States. You know, Ming, if you don't know what you are talking about on a given subject maybe you should remain quiet and try to educate yourself more?

According to census data Springfield had over 80,000 people in 1960 and 1970

Not at all. It means when the written law says one thing but a partisan political party simply ignores the law because they believe they will gain a partisan advantage from doing so. The actual fraudulent asylum claimants file knowing false false asylum claims because they expect to personally benefit from doing so. That has been the official policy of the Biden-Harris regime from day one. Fact.

To say otherwise is to lie.

But only 60,000 in 2020. It was a classic factory town where the factory closed. This why it is mired in rural poverty.

Home prices and rents were probably super low with a lot of abandoned buildings.

Gee... first it was eating pets, but that was a total lie.
Now it's they are illegal, even though they aren't.
Keep throwing stuff against the wall, but none of it will stick.
Oh... and you keep saying LIES. The biggest liar is Trump, but you seem to forget that on a regular basis.

Pet eating has happened and that is a fact. The only question is how wide spread the practice is.

Unfortunately, Ming has decided to double down on lying.

Hilarious that you're going with "pet eating has happened" as your response. WTF does any of this have to do with the election? Neither Trump nor Harris has anything to do with this non-issue. It certainly isn't enlightening anyone about actual immigration issues. It's just another distraction to move the conversation away from Trump's Project 2025 agenda and his massive legal troubles.

Yes, prices were rather affordable. The problem now is when you dump 20,000 illegal aliens committing asylum fraud into a small rural town and give them all free housing vouchers then the rents go way up, tripled since Biden started his open borders policies, and that leaves a lot of the citizens who are working poor unable to afford rent. After all the working poor would move to a place like Springfield because it was so affordable but now they are getting displaced.

Yeah... I'm sure some people eat pets. But, the people in Springfield have ALL recanted their BS stories... something you don't seem to be addressing even though you pushed the lie. And you are the one that seems to double down with a stupid comment that you are sure SOMEBODY has eaten a pet in the past. Just admit the whole Springfield story was BS and has put the people in Springfield in danger as people are calling in bomb threats due to Trump and Vance's lies. THAT IS A FACT.
