  • There are some accusations, which are as of yet unsubstantiated. The same as has been the case for over 3 years now.

In all fairness, isn't that the same situation as the "Russian collusion" investigation of Trump?

Yet, somehow, as a country, we hired a special prosecutor to look into it. Shouldn't the same be done here?
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

      • The Special Prosecutor never considered Trump a person of interest, and was rather focused on the real bad actions/actors that took place. Recall that there was smoke and fire there, and 37 plea deals and indictments.

Maybe in 2016 there was accusations that were not substantiated, but at that time there wasn't a special prosecutor. The special prosecutor only came much later, after there was substantiation (for example, Flynn).

A special persecutor was selected and looked at the whole case, and found that a couple of FBI agents had moved too aggressively for the level of substantiation in 2016, that does not invalidate the real bad actions in late 2016 and 2017, which were substantiated in May when Mueller became Special Counsel.

Special prosecutors for unsubstantiated accusations would be a grave weaponization of the government for political purposes.

So no, entirely different. Bring some actual substantiated bad actions somewhere in the space that isn't naked pictures of Hunter or Hunter using drugs or Hunter making an unrelated lie to the IRS. If Hunter was found to have lied to the IRS to hide payments made by Burisma, for example, that would be some substantiation. And yes, there has been investigations into Hunter Biden, so in that way it is similar to how Trump was treated in 2016 and early 2017.

To reiterate, if the current level of investigations finds some smoke (similar to Flynn), then a Special Prosecutor may be warranted. A Special Prosecutor can not be warranted because of some accusations made by someone based on hearsay.

        • Obama got a Fisa warrant to spy on Trump based on unsubstantiated accusations from the Clinton campaign framing Trump as a traitor - and Obama knew it. Thats J Edgar level corruption. And thats where the smoke came from, the Dems blowing it up our asses for years. How did Flynn substantiate anything? Well, other than Obama entrapping him.

                          • Rudy Giuliani admits making false claims of Georgia voter fraud

Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump's former lawyer, has conceded he made "false" statements by accusing two Georgia election workers of ballot fraud.

But in a court filing, Mr Giuliani also maintained that his statements were protected by freedom of speech.

Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss testified to Congress last year that they received threats over the false claims.

The ex-New York City mayor could still face sanctions from the court, including legal fees and costs.

The lawsuit was filed in 2021 by Ms Freeman and Ms Moss, who are mother and daughter respectively.

The legal action notes that Mr Giuliani and others shared a video that wrongly claimed to show the two altering ballots while they were working for the Fulton County Board of Elections in 2020.

In a two-page concession, filed on Tuesday night, Mr Giuliani said his statements were "false" and admitted his remarks "carry meaning that is defamatory per se".

Mr Giuliani, though, argued that his statements were "constitutionally protected" under the First Amendment of the US Constitution.

He did not acknowledge in the filing causing any damages to the mother and daughter.

His lawyer, Joseph Sibley, told the court: "While Giuliani does not admit to plaintiffs' allegations, he - for purposes of this litigation only - does not contest the factual allegations."

Ted Goodman, a political adviser to Mr Giuliani, said in a statement: "This is a legal issue, not a factual issue.

"Those out to smear the mayor are ignoring the fact that this stipulation is designed to get to the legal issues of the case."Even after Fulton County and Georgia officials refuted accusations against Ms Freeman and Ms Moss, Mr Giuliani continued to share false claims that they had pulled thousands of fraudulent ballots from a suitcase and fed them through voting machines.

The mother and daughter testified last year to the US House of Representatives select committee that investigated the Capitol riot how the voter fraud claims left them living in fear.

Michael J Gottlieb, a lawyer for Ms Freeman and Ms Moss, welcomed Mr Giuliani's filing.

He said it affirms what they knew - that the two "honourably performed their civic duties in the 2020 presidential election in full compliance with the law; and the allegations of election fraud he and former President Trump made against them have been false since day one".

I remember that video, did we ever get an explanation for what they were doing? I didn't see the hearing but if the GOP was in control of it they must not have found a smoking gun. Thats why I prefer having partisans in charge of investigating the other side like in the Az election and Mueller exonerating Trump.
