  • 3 democratic house members lodged objections but not a single democratic senator.

It was entirely legal to do so, and it had been done 4 times since 1877. It wasn't at all similar to what took place on January 6, 2021.

Jackson Lee and her allies argued that widespread voter suppression in states won by Trump tarnished the results. They also pointed to research provided by a team of independent lawyers that found dozens of Republican electors were technically ineligible to serve. But their arguments failed to persuade their Senate colleagues to step forward.

Though any single member may lodge an objection, only those supported by both a House member and senator are eligible for debate. Had the effort by House Democrats gained the support of a single senator, it would have delayed the confirmation of Trump’s victory by hours, forcing the Senate to retreat to its chamber and debate the merits of each challenged electoral vote.

The attempted objections began immediately, when Rep. James McGovern (D-Mass.) protested Alabama’s electoral votes, citing Russian interference in the presidential election. His declaration drew a sharp round of booing from the Republicans in the chamber.
Biden asked whether his objection was in writing and if he had the support of a senator. When McGovern acknowledged he had no senator, Biden quickly moved on.

thats the same process the Trump people tried, they couldn't get a senator from the state being challenged to sign on and the effort failed in the House

  • Few things are more confidential than details of American submarines, but that seems not to have stopped the former president from sharing them.

    Why am I not surprised?

  • I see Mike "My Pillow" Lindell's entire legal team has quit for nonpayment. He's now joining Rudy as being basically broke.

Lindell is seriously unhinged. Here's the interview; it's short and trainwreck-fascinating:

    • Other than Jim Jordan, who (seemingly) got a Medal of Freedom for being pro-Trump -- who else is running for Speaker and is there anyone more respectable in the field (should be easy to achieve as Jordan keeps the bar low)?

          • Israel-Palestinian situation has exploded.
The victims are among at least 700 people killed on the Israeli side - with more than 400 also dead in Gaza.

Well over 200 Palestinian men, women, and children have been killed by Israeli security services this year prior to this action. Egyptian, Saudi, Jordanian, and other security services have been warning about this for months. Israel has had a very hawkish military chief... 100% perdictable.

I'm seeing parallels to the Turkish response to the assassination of one ministry official to Israel's response to a massive attack killing hundreds of Israeli civilians. So I'll give the Israelis credit for better proportionality than Turkey. I suppose however, that is damning with faint praise.

“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”

were the people he described as miracle workers?

              • Heller was actually describing the masses who were so easily duped.

                  • speaking of Covid, or more accurately, the vaccine... Get a 2nd opinion before boosters if you have any comorbidity that depends on your immune system running well

cancer doctors are noticing relapses in patients who are up to date on their boosters. The theory is the vax stresses the immune system allowing for the disease to advance, maybe they're also finding (and distinguishing) cancer patients who get Covid are also relapsing at higher rates. I'd expect any bug or vaccine hitting the immune system to have an effect on cancer cell development, boosters every 6-12 months might not be a good idea, especially if you got Covid already. My sister's breast cancer relapsed within a month of a bout of the flu in January years before Covid. I dont know if a flu shot in the fall would have helped her or if cancer patients are advised against them.
