The OP is talking about newspapers and TV news, that is the goalpost. That is "the media" the poll is talking about and you're complaining because I didn't say some media is propaganda.

Too bad that it doesn't support anything you said, since you "used" stuff insofar that you quoted parts from an article then claiming that it's in fact all different cuz, y'know "the media" before limiting it to "the media, except...".Blah

I go to the BBC for news the most often in part because US news outlets all spin any US news so heavily to suit their partisan subscriber/viewer/reader base's expectations and demands that I usually can't stand sticking with their coverage of anything for long.
Sometimes however I am reminded at how much these editorial spin decisions warp even the BBC.
That is the article I first read about the appalling shooting of a 16 year old door bell ringer twice by a gun wielding psycho gun owner.
A few days later I saw this article and was immediately reminded of the earlier shooting of Ralph Yarl.
Police report the arrest of a man accused of shooting a little girl and her father in North Carolina.
However, I remembered that the first story wasted no time informing us that the victim was 'black' and the shooter was 'white'. I surmised that the race of victim and shooter was probably not relevant to this second story and assumed that all of the victims presumably didn't look racially distinct from the shooter. The BBC offered a picture of the shooter but nothing for the victims. I wanted to confirm this however, because I think disparate racial news coverage policies have an exceedingly toxic effect on diverse societies. I looked in vain for a mainstream news outlet to fill in the missing information and finally had to settle instead for pictures of both the shooter and the victims in an article in Sun news.
THE gunman who allegedly shot his six-year-old neighbor and both of her parents Tuesday night has turned himself into authorities in Florida. The family was attacked after a basketball rolled into …
It doesn't look to me like the victims in the second shooting are any less racially distinct from the shooter than was the case in the first shooting.
So why does every Western news outlet volunteer racial information on the shooting of 16 year old black Ralph Yarl by an 84 year old white Andrew Lester for ringing his doorbell? And whatever that reason is why do none of them offer any victim names or victim and shooter racial information on the shooting of the 6 year old Kinsley White and her two parents Ashley Hilderbrand and William White, all shot for pursuing a basketball into Robert Louis Singletary's yard?
The reason essentially is political and that makes the involved Western news outlets into defacto propaganda. When it comes to covering "race" news outlets inform the public when minorities are victims of "white" people and obfuscate or at least totally ignore racial information if apparently "white" people are the victims of racial minorities. I am sure they have the best intentions in doing this but it is not journalistically defensible and I am sure it will have terrible toxic effects on the slow painful efforts to confront and eliminate racism in our societies.

They seem to all be men shooting people with guns... The US needs more guns, so everyone can shoot everyone else.

my biggest fear is that coverage of shootings will become so incessant that even terrible mass shootings will escape notice giving a false sense that things aren't spiraling out of control. Even if it is too late for maximum effectiveness due to astronomical numbers of guns on the street in the US, new strong gun control laws and total enforcement of existing laws are obviously desperately needed. I can't see that happening if the problem becomes in any way less visible.

What Journalists Need to Know About Whistleblowers
1. Know the laws
If you are writing about whistleblowers, familiarize yourself with the protection laws. There is no universal whistleblower law. From the False Claims Act to the Dodd-Frank Act to the Whistleblower Protection Act, an extensive legal framework surrounds whistleblower protection in the United States. Whistleblower rights depend on the procedures set forth in over 50 different federal laws and countless state laws.
Know that those in the private sector may not have the same rewards and protections that federal whistleblowers may have.
It sets out a whole lot more, but the basic point I was making - what rights and protections you have as a 'whistleblower' depend on your actions and conduct and are set out by codes of ethics and legal frameworks. Subjective personal opinion on whistleblowers is fine to have, but there is a framework for this stuff for journalists, and just because you don't see consistency does not mean it is not there..Last edited by Dauphin; April 21, 2023, 10:59.One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Hunter Biden tax probe improperly handled - whistleblower
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65344338
It will be interesting to see how this case of a would-be "whistelblower" in a federal government context plays out in comparison to earlier whisteblowers during the Trump administration.

Tony Blinken was on Biden's campaign and he and Mike Morell organized the deep state's letter dismissing the lap top story as Russian election interference, so 51 top level intel people signed it and the Biden campaign and media used their letter to deny, ignore or censor the story. The lap top was not Russian and these people interfered in the election and then we get lectures about democracy from these power hungry sociopaths. They wanted this war in Ukraine and Trump was in the way.

Here are two articles covering several lawsuits against Kushner. Now, someone can link to two lawsuits filed against, and lost by Hunter Biden. Fun Game!
