What we see of Russia is what we're allowed to see by Putin. And if people are generally content then dissent tends to be minimal. But everything points to the fact that material conditions for rank-and-file Russians are about to get a lot worse due to a multi-pronged strategy. Remember in these things it looks like nothing is happening...until it does.

Why do you think this guy is credible? He constantly makes claims about the Russian economy that do not agree with the information that can be independently corroborated about the Russian Economy. There are no signs of the desperation he claims, and he even conflates unrelated things (like at the end when he compares a command economy to a "democracy"). Russia may well have multilayered "Dutch Disease" but that remains theoretical with no data to confirm it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the US economy tanked first as a result of its own special "Dutch disease" related to its reserve currency economy having that foundation collapse.
