A Ukrainian drone blew up a flag poll on top of the Kremlin so Putin lies and claims it was an assassination attempt against him even though he was no where near the flag poll.

I'm unconcerned about the US provoking Russia through supporting Ukraine even when it deoccupies Russian occupied Ukraine just as I accept PRC and USSR materially supporting Vietnam and korea and later Russia supporting Syria were not provocation amounting to any act of war against the US.

Whataboutism is about moral equivalency. I'm simply observing that the level of US provocation represented by Ukrainian liberation of Crimea is no greater than has been seen in other proxy wars.
