    I binge watched Kleo yesterday.

A few weeks ago I decided to watch the Mandalorian. My wife and daughter ended up joining me, and then they binge watched all of the movies and some additional shows (I didn't have the time to join them for everything, I haven't even watched the last two episodes of the Manalorian). I had been trying to get my wife to watch Star Wars with me for a decade, and my daughter had been exposed to it three times before.

Their favorites aren't my favorites, but it is cool they like it.

The Mandalorian was the first Star Wars media I consumed since The Last Jedi.

My wife was a much bigger fan of the Lord of the Rings movies than I, and I am just so-so on the Hobbit movies and she likes them even more than the Lord of the Rings movies. I think we are going to try The Rings of Power on Friday, although I do have concerns about it.

Saw top gun 2. on tablet. I think it deserves a bigger screen. it was nice and interesting because it actually had a good plot that tied nicely with the plost of the 1st movie.

also tom cruise looked like he had done some deal with thhe devil to be preswerved ina mummified state forever "young"
Also I don''t know where his girlfriend from the 1st top gun went?

did she become too fat to qualify and they had to subsstitute her with that other kinda hotie? (god I hope she's not dead or anyhing )

House of dragon (Ithihnk is called) is like a copy of game of thrones with a lot more money thrown to it. it is more of the same but I guess it's enough

There is definitely a difference in taste.

She and I (and our daughters) like The Mandalorian. And everyone likes TOS (my daughter didn't like them a couple of years ago, maybe too early? She was 7.).

But I didn't like where TLJ went (possibly it was an OK movie it if wasn't a Star Wars movie) and didn't watch tRoS, while my wife was a big fan of TLJ and tRoS, maybe even more so than TOS.

(My older daughter's favorite is actually the show Clone Wars, which I and my wife haven't watched much of (I allowed her to watch it without us).)

Watched the LOTR:ROP thing, first two eps.

                Hmmmmm...IMO there's good and bad.

It looks veeeery nice indeed. But it did not impress me as much as the movies. Much of it has to do with the whole atmosphere, neither the score nor the actors reach the format (so far?) of those in the movies.

Which might be a really unfair point (can you blame the Galadriel actress for not displaying the same kind of gravitas and charisma already as a superstar like Cate Blanchett? etc.). But it made a difference to me....

Some inter-elves dialogues felt really wooden, esp. in the first Ep.. Proto-Hobbits otoh worked relatively well (had the dubbed Kraut version, I read in english some complained about their Irish accents). However, they provided a lighter touch in between which was nice.

During the course of the 1st ep there was some sense of boredom and disappointment setting in -- fortunately towards the end it improved again. 2nd Ep was overall better, so I'm somewhat optimistic.

As for reactions, apparently these days there's either:
                - moaning if their are too many white folks
                - moaning if there are too many (or any at all) non-white folks
                - moaning if Dwarf wives are depicted without beards

IMO the darker skin Elf with his (possible) Human love interest was one of the better characters, which is what counts for me.

Overall I hope there's really much more to come - I mean what else did they use up all the money for...?

Galadriel in the TV Series also was a few thousand years younger ... practically a youth/young adult, whereas the Galadriel in the movies already was older and wiser.

I haven't been to the cinema a single time this year. Simply not much interesting there for me

However, recently watched "The Northman" via streaming. Which was pretty good.

Visually nice, great cast. Very violent tho, without glorifying it (rather the opposite).

Watched it last weekend ... I also liked it.
Especially how they depicted the Norse religious rituals

Watched the 1st ep of "The Peripheral", based on the William Gibson scifi novel with the same name. I'm not exactly sure yet where it's going , but look&feel is excellent so far.

Last night I saw a stage adaption of the old (1976) movie Network.
If you haven't seen the movie, you should. If you haven't seen it in 40 years, you should watch it again.
When it was made, it was cutting satire. Today... you decide.

I thought the last one was pretty good. Or, more accurately, in keeping with the others.

I started my yearly winter streaming festival last week.

                          So far watched:

Book of Boba Fett: nice, but a tad slow in the 1st couple episodes. It turned into quasi-Mandalorian later, although these eps were very good. Still wondering if this should be really a separate tv show or just be part of the Mandalorian.

Prey: fresh take on the Predator thing, this time in 18th century America. Basically Aliens v. Natives - may sound silly (like Cowboys vs Aliens), but was actually a positive surprise.
