Started to watch American Horror Stories ... a spin-off from American Horror Story with currently one season (and a second one coming soon).
I like it ... it has the same feeling as its mother series AHS, but with shorter stories that only encompass 1-2 episodes
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve." Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"
That new show has Chris Pratt, initial military action, then some conspiracy/crime/action stuff, but it is long-winded and boring.
Watched ca. 30 mins of the one hour+ long opener. Most of the time was spent watching Chris looking sad because of many losses. Felt like spending 3 hours or something for those 30 mins. Next day I thought hey give it a chance, and spend another 30+ for the rest. The last 10 mins or so were actually getting interesting.
However, I'm not keen enough to go on with this borefest.
Seems pretty good to me through 3 episodes I have watched. It seems predictable, then its not...then it is. Kind of odd. The storyline is an old one though (at least so far) and you get the feeling constantly that you know where it is headed in the end. The characters are a little stereotypical, but we are talking military/espionage types so... I just don't have that "One more episode" feeling when each is done though.
Hmmm....maybe it is a borefest. I think I just talked myself into agreeing with you.

Unicorn visions reminds me of Happy!
A series I definitely can recommend ... very funny

It surely looks impressive, but let's hope they also spent a sufficient part of those 400 million bucks on story telling and character dev...
I cannot wait for this! If it lives up to half the hype, it will be good. If it lives up to all of it, it will be amazing!

Didn't watch anything new, but started to watch a bit of DaVinci's Demons, which I ignored when it came out. Imo it's a surprisingly fun combi of GoT and Sherlock It does not actually reach the class of any of these two, but for a completely inaccurate history-fantasy mix it's quite entertaining...

Soooo - anybody watching the GoT pre-thing? I dont. Take that, HBO.
But I will, sooner or later
Watched it. First episode seemed like they were trying to make sure that they had sex and mutilation. Just seemed a little forced. Maybe it is because we are looking at a completely different set of characters. Jury is out, but interesting enough that will keep watching

Just got around to watching Don't Look Up, which had weirdly mixed reviews. It's spot-on satire, which apparently has angered the oligarchs and climate change deniers while reportedly delighting actual scientists. I would describe it as hilariously depressing. Excellent original screenplay by producer/director Adam McKay.
Eh. I'm fully onboard with climate change and the danger it represents, and I work in planetary science (the movie, to its credit, namechecks a couple groups I work with), and I thought it was excruciatingly bad. As unsubtle as the comet it drops on Earth. Plus the science is bad. The only part I liked was the minor, recurring joke about snacks in the White House.
I totally agree with -Jrabbit.
Satire ... but definitely very close to reality.
It Trump (or the GOP) told its followers to not look up in order to not see the earth destroying asteroid coming close,
I am sure, a lot of Trumpists would follow those instructions
I watched a Spanish 6-part tv show called Sin lÃmites (Without Limits aka Boundless) about the first circumvalation of the world by Magellan, though completed by Elcano.
It did the typical approach on history stuff these day - the grand lines, key facts are ok, with lotsa highly dramatized and fictionalized stuff in between for drama/entertainment.
In many ways it was really good, after the 1st rather slow build-up episode at least. They opted to depict Magellan as ambiguous character (excellent navigator, visionary even, likeable/noble/heroic, but at times self-righteous and misguided, which ultimately led to his death in battle vs. natives).
It felt GoTish certainly in some ways (no dragons, hehe, but intrigue, nudity, violence), what really stood out for me was the excellent visual style. It felt somewhat short even for a voyage of ca. 3 yrs. Maybe too boring to show long periods of the survivors suffering hunger and illness on the way back...
Overall one of the better tv shows with history bg IMO.

I did and I like it ... very bloody and with lots of intrigue and drama.
I also like the "new" Iron Throne ... which is much more impressive (with swords already sticking left and right on the stairs to the Thrones podest)
