He crossed state lines. The gun, I don't know where he got.
But again, what was he expecting to happen? The decison to go there was stupid, and any reasonable person would realise that there was a risk of people dying if you turn up with an AR-15 in that situation. One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

Yes.
And according to current law in a lot of states that is legal. Obviously it isn't moral, or reasonable.
I have no idea if anyone has thought about it, but I would expect that in some similar situation that the only way for the victims to receive justice would be civil suites.

"he did not cross state lines. That's a lie."
Let's see... He lives in Illinois and the incident occurred in Wisconsin... and what lie are you talking about.
And what, did your masters tell you to compare this to rape? Not even close...
While he may not have been convicted, there is one simple fact.
If he had not brought a gun to Wisconsin, people wouldn't be dead.
So his stupidity cost people their lives.
I wonder if there will be a wrongful death civil suit against him... It wouldn't surprise me.Keep on Civin'

JM
After 2 attacks (Huber and his skateboard) as he ran down the street toward the cops he fell and several men lined up to attack him, the first backed off and the kid let him go, 'drop kick man' launched into the air landing his right foot on his face spinning him around. He fired 2 shots and missed him, that dude is lucky he escaped.
Huber comes in for his 2nd attack using his skateboard in his right hand as a weapon hitting the kid in the head and shoulder. Huber grabbed the gun barrel with his left hand as his momentum carried him over Kyle. Huber pulled the gun toward himself as he ran by and got shot.
Both of the men who were killed grabbed the gun away from somebody with their finger on the trigger. They not only aimed for him, they pulled the trigger. Well, I'm not sure if thats what happened. I dont know if the kid testified the gun went off when they pulled on it. Rosenbaum got shot 4 times so even if the 1st was unintentional he didn't stop.
As for the 3rd guy, Gaige was talking to the kid as he was running down the street, he told him he was going for the police. So instead of turning around to help Rosenbaum he joined the vigilantes. These are the vigilantes, not the kid. They were trying to 'arrest' an 'active shooter'. Gaige knew better, the kid was obviously running to the cops and not shooting people at random.
Gaige pulled his gun and ran up to Kyle on the ground as Huber shot himself and Gaige ducked down putting his hands up appearing to surrender. Kyle keeps the gun low and Gaige decides to attack anyway and the kid shot the arm with the gun - he's lucky he didn't take that in the chest like Huber. Thank God we have all 3 shootings on video, the visual evidence is compelling and probably why he got a full acquittal.
Gaige is claiming self defense, he wanted to surrender but says the kid was trying to reload the chamber (reracking?) and thought he would be shot if he gave up so he attacked. Now thats an interesting argument, the prosecution was claiming the kid was not protected by self defense laws because he provoked Rosenbaum's attack when he allegedly pointed his gun at Zaminsky shortly before Rosenbaum started chasing him.
Gaige pulled his gun and ran up to someone on the ground being attacked and calls it self defense. I'd love to hear the prosecution's thoughts about that. Kyle was running away from people attacking him.

The Zaminsky's and others started calling for the mob to attack him so the kid ran.
I agree that Rosenbaum and, probably, Zaminsky, also share some culpability.
