Many, many of these attacks on churches are being carried out by militant far left "activists".

Yesterday a Coptic church in Surrey BC was torched. They have absolutely nothing to do with any residential school whatsoever, and the Coptic community in Canada has had Canada as one of their few havens where they won´t get their churches torched, unlike in Egypt, etc.

I am beginning to think that for the first time in the history of North America that there is an anti-Christian (or even anti-religion) phenomena.

Not sure what will happen of it, I hope something like Western/Northern Europe and not Communist countries or Cambodia/etc.

(to me it is clear that we Christians in some sense deserve it in part due to the mixing of politics and religion by most Evangelicals and some Catholics)

I spent a lot of time online and in communities in my late teens and twenties. I saw a very different environment the last two years when I ventured onto reddit (after spending some of my 30s reading more articles) and I saw some of this change in environment in RL too when I returned to the US. There are far more educated people who are anti-Christian who are younger than me, and while some of the Trump crowd identifies as Christian there is also a significant portion which is both anti-Christian and not educated.

Luckily Christians get off on being persecuted, so it's a win-win if you ask me.

There have been numerous far left attacks on churches in the US as well. It is fashionable among the extreme left to hate Christians.

Yes, predictably, another Andy Ngo link. Sad.

Yes, I know facts trigger you. You should try embracing them any way though because they will help you make better and more informed decisions.

Dude, if you use Andy Ngo - sensationalist twister of truth, Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer sympathizer/tool, and grifter - as your source of facts, it explains a lot about you.

I think it is probably better for Christianity to be persecuted than for it to be in bed with the government or a single political party. I have a hard time thinking of anything that corrupts religion more than mixing politics and religion.

I think we are seeing the rise of atheist holy war. Atheists consumed by hate and bigotry hell bent on the destruction of religion.

I haven't read the thread, but it looks like there's some kind of a witch hunt against the church or something.

Spain already went through this during the thirties, when armed militias routinely burned churches, shot priests and raped nuns. Let's hope that the madness which is currently raging in North America stops before it is too late.

I guess I should have said Northern Europe and not Western Europe. I was thinking in particular of Sweden which has gone from religiously liberal to areligious in a remarkably peaceful fashion. I think England's transition has also been peaceful.

(of course, I hope for the blossoming of Christianity again, but I admit that bad behavior does cause some time in the dog house.)

The murdering and rape went both ways, of course.

Also a couple of arsonists burning down some churches is not equivalent to a fascist take over.

The Catholic Church spent millions of dollars that were supposed to go to residential school survivors on lawyers, administration, a private fundraising company and unapproved loans, according to documents obtained by CBC News.

This was late last year but, yes, the militant far left loves to attack churches.

A group of more than 100 black-clad rioters vandalized a church in Portland that regularly serves meals and provides shelter to the homeless, forcing the church to suspend worship services and its ...
