A very good thing when the national unemployment rate is around 10%. You encourage work i stead of disclurage it and i crease total wages paid. Now, if we could only get drooling on himself Biden to start enforcing immigration laws again so citizens didn't have to compete against illegal labor. If your average blue collar worker really thinks he has to compete with illegal labor I know why the replublicans are gaining favor with them.
But we all know that in reality, "regular" blue collar workers should have enough educational advantages over their illegal counterparts that fierce direct competition is a hoax
So, in other words, get educated and stop blaming brown people for your own failings.

And, you as an educated person should stop feeding your racism with idiot rhetorics.

One point some people seem to be ignoring... Many of our less educated unskilled workers in this country will NOT do many of the jobs that are available. Most of them won't do janitorial work, agriculture work, and other such jobs. For those, most companies must depend on immigrants to fill those positions. They are NOT competing with many of the locals for these types of jobs.

You are an idiot if you think mythical "racism" has anything to do with this realignment. The reality is controlling and limiting low skilled immigration does help blue collar citizens. Name the trade and those workers end up having to compete against unfair competition. These people understand this thus why they oppose the democrats current open borders lawlessness. This all comes down to kitchen table issues for the working class and that you are unable to understand something so simple just goes to show how out of touch and detached from reality you are.

They will for the right price just as they always have in the past. I point out the chicken plant raids in Alabama a few years ago where almost exclusively illegal workers from central America. Starting wages were around $9 because so much illegal labor had been brought in to those small towns that wages had gone down. After ICE raided the plants, deported the illegals, and fined the companies making them actually obey the law... Well, starting wages actually went up to $15 per hour and many local blacks who had been working at multiple restaurant or retail jobs for $11 or $12 happily lined up to get new full time jobs for $15 per hour. People will do these jobs but they want a fair wage and not a depressed wage.

Illegal aliens depress the wages in these sectors and so harm the very working class people Democrats claim to want to help but always hurt. Thus why many of these people are now switching parties.

That's a fair pay and people aren't lining up for a chance to clean toilets... Retail jobs here in Chicago pay far less, but nobody jumped at the chance to clean toilets for 15 an hour.

Who can't find janitors, Ming, and where? I am sure there are many janitorial services available in Chicago. Now, that is the local job market like there and what other alternatives do people have? If one company is hiring at a higher wage then to remain competitive they need to also increase wages as they are competing for the same labor pool. Also, I imagine there are a ton of people in Chicago getting paid to not work by being on one of many, many, many government programs. Change the rules of those programs to let people work in addition or, better yet, to require them to work without taking away benefits for a set amount of time. With in work benefits I imagine you'd see big increases in labor force participation rates.

Zip Recruiter say entry level full time janitor jobs in Chicago pay $20k-$28k per year. That is only $10-$14 per hour. I am not sure how recent that data is or if it is for the whole state or just Chicago so there are unknowns there. The logical thing is if they are not finding takers they need to either improve their offer or at least advertise it better so more potential workers hear about it.
