The point is perhaps up to 99% of US COVID19 deaths may have been avoidable with an intelligent and coordinated response to COVID19. Instead we got Trump's swiss cheese xenophobic approach to international travel, no coordination, and that resulted in 215k and climbing deaths, along with harsher internal lockdowns and economic damage than necessary.

Maybe the flatten the curve option was better for us, maybe it wasn't. But no one in the US was calling for closed borders. So don't blame Trump. He's not even an epistemologist.
Plenty of people were calling for quarantine, contact tracing, and testing. Trump was dismissive of the danger, and was the only one who could have controlled the border. That's POTUS job, it's what Trump ran on, and he failed spectacularly.

Yep... Trump failed.
He lied to the American People
Touted his late stoppage of flights from China, which still allowed flights in from China
And did pretty much nothing else...
And the results are obvious to everybody.
