      One regret I have about Trump is he never, that I know of, recognized Taiwan as a free and independent nation, pushed for and signed a full on military alliance with them and the Quad nations, obliging all to come to Taiwan's defense in the case of an invasion of Taiwan by China. This lack put that brave democracy at risk. Now that Biden may get in, Taiwan is largely scrod. Visualize a fight to the death with the US sitting out, and eventual victory by China. Then like HK, it won't be pretty.

          Imagine the US under a well paid Biden sitting out a war between Red China, invading Taiwan, Japan, India and Australia. Nobody would ever trust the US again.

                        Well, that wouldn't be in keeping with his "America First" slogan, would it? Why would the US want to throw away money and lives trying to help Taiwan?

                          Gee. if Trump is the Protector of Taiwan, why did he never sign a defensive pact with them during his 4 years in office?
                          Sure, there have been some nebulous deals that really don't promise anything, but beyond taking their money for weapons, and sailing a few ships around, he has made no promises or made anything official.
                          There is no guarantee that he would step up if China actually attacked.

                            Yes, as I stated elsewhere, that is my problem with Trump. Now an admiral is in Taiwan on official business. I hope he's there to propose recognition and alliance. Get the ball rolling toward correcting this error.
