Downtime update: about three days ago the server's system drive started failing. Yesterday the drive was replaced by IT staff, now I restored the configuration files and everything is back online. Since I took the opportunity to also do a fresh install of the OS, there's likely to be some intermittent issues as I sort out whatever's missing.

can't seem to upload images... or even change avatar. even the one i am currently using gives this message - Image resize failed due to your image library not having support for this image type. i would give a screen shot but it will not upload. is this a real issue or just something on my side?
