I hate that they keep calling him "Judge Moore". That dip**** got removed from the state supreme court twice and disbarred for being incompetent. When you get disbarred you lose the honorific. If a doctor loses his medical license you cannot call them a doctor any more and the same thing applies here.

If you call yourself a Doctor (for example Dr. rer. nat. or Dr. med) or add some other form of academic title to your name (like Dipl. or Mag./Master) without actually have earned this degree in a university, you commit a crime (abuse of academic and job titles) and can get fined or even have to go to prison

Actually, when it comes to calling other people a doctor, this is allowed (the person which was addressed this way doesn't even have to correct the caller).
You are only forbidden from calling yourself a Doctor, if you aren't one.

Or to say it with an example:
If I call you Dr. Kidicious, then it is legal (even if you don't correct me)
If you call yourself Dr. Kidicious, this would be illegal, however

(it even has some historical roots to falsely attribute someone with an academic degree ... till a few decades ago, the wife of a medical doctor was commonly attributed as "Frau Doktor" (i.e., "Miss Doctor"), even if she, herself, didn't possess an academic degree ... fortunately this has fallen in disuse, now that it is quite normal for women to have academic degrees on their own)
