I don't hate anyone though I do find Islam to be an evil ideology as it orders people to be killed because of their personally beliefs. I have been to the park in question before, as one would expect it is the center of a fair amount of gang violence, drive bys, and drug sales nearly all of it by illegals aliens or the decendents of illegal aliens.

The group in question were obvious rabblerousers seeking a reaction and they got exactly what they seek. They seem like asshats to me. The murals in question are all mostly rubbish, much of it does glorify gangbanging and thug life, I would paint over every last one of them as they glorify violence and criminality but that is just me.

All if us in north county are very happy that they stay down there, that the SDPD gang task force does such a great job making sure those low life thugs quickly end up in prison where they belong, and that we are free to go down to Barrio Logan for the odd weekend visit Las Quatros Milpas (a local norteno style eatery which opened in the 1930's, which is still owned by the same family, and which has the exact same menu it has had since the 1930's minus price changes).

A bigger problem is that Barrio Logan has always been an area of heavy industry, especially for the commercial ship building industry. Illegals started living next to the heavy industrial area in the 1930's to 1950's because it was dirt cheap and none of the white people wanted to live there. Then, under the excuse of cleaning up the neighborhood they have been trying to push out the heavy industry. It is a major regional employer and if it really isn't safe to have people living near it then the crappy 90 year old shacks need to be torn down not the giant billion dollar shipyards.

Ironically, if the "Latino activists" get what they want and destroy the local ship building industry then that waterfront area would gentrify in a heart beat and all of those low income wetbacks would be evicted in short order so the area could gentrify and offer $3000 a month waterfront apartments. So the joke is on them either way.

Oh, and Barrio Logan is also too close to the homeless shelter in East Village which results in dozens to hundreds of urban street campers living in tents, pissing and crapping on the sidewalks, eating food right next to where they just took a dump because they are too lazy/stupid/drugged out to walk 100 yards to a public bathroom... This has resulted in the worst Hep A outbreak any where in the country among the homeless.

There is actually enough shelter space for these people but they refuse to use the shelters because you can't shoot up in the shelter, you can't drink in the shelter, you have to actually take your mental health medications the doctor prescribed, you can't have your five ferral dogs as "pets" in the shelter, and you can't have sex with your "girlfriend" who works as a street crack whore for spare cash.

Worse, some "homeless advocates" won a court case in front of a cherry picked bleeding heart judge for a "right to be homeless". These means the cops are under a court order not to clean up the squater camps even though when this order went into place a year ago every doctor and public health official said you would automatically get exactly the type of deplorable conditions and disease outbreaks we actually have seen. That idiot judge needs to have all the homeless relocated to his front yard in La Jolla and then we can see if he still thinks allowing drug addicts free reign is a good idea.

If they really wanted a picnic the waterfront park by Tuna Harbor and the old Cannery Row is much nicer. It is also near Barrio Logan (though officially just north of it by a city block or so) yet it is mostly families and kids playing soccer along with people fishing on the public pier. None of the gang banging thug life there.

They even have some nice public art work in the form of statues to the old Italian and Portuguese ladies who used to make up around 90% of the tuna cannery workers back in the day.
