Google is going to start flagging sites that use http instead of https on pages with login or other user input. Which is every page on Apolyton. So we need to change to https site-wide or Chrome and Google search will soon be flagging the site as a phishing site. We may be out to ruin people's lives here at Apolyton, but not by stealing their personal details
So, sometime soon we will be changing servers.
We have a license for vB 5 still. From what I've read it's now a usable product. It will likely have fewer compatibility issues with https than the current version and the flaming pile ofturds extensions that we have now. But some of those pile of extensions may not be available for vB 5. Also it is easier to get running on nginx, which is the server I'm most familiar with. I only use Apache for Apolyton, the rest are nginx.
Anyway, I will be setting up a vB 5 version before we need to decide. In the meantime, here's an example of vB 5 with a custom theme: http://vb5.pixelgoose.com/
