That's why people in high crime rate areas vote against lower minimum wages/lower taxes for the rich. They rightfully want their fair share.

If an employer can't afford to pay such a wage, their business isn't viable. This should be mandated by law, as it is in Australia, and most of the rest of the Western world.

If you're working your hardest and still don't have enough to live on, what are you gunna do?
You live in a country with one of the highest per-capita incomes in the world, but 1 in 5 live under the poverty line. Is that just?
I'm old enough to remember the genesis of globalism. It was sold to us as bringing 1st world conditions to 3rd world workers. Sounds good, right? The reality has been multinational corps seeking out the cheapest labour, at the expense of 1st world workers. Company profits keep going up, average wages keep going down, unless you're in the ever-diminishing privileged class.
The great con has been if you keep loyal to your employer they'll be loyal to you. Maybe so for a family-owned business, but they too are being screwed by macro-economic policies of the neo-cons, and thus are ever-diminishing.
We're heading more and more back to feudalism, and incarceration is just another mechanism for keeping people under the boot. What's more, in many countries, including yours, the ultra-rich are profiting from incarceration, because it's been outsourced to the private sector.
The extremely wealthy are quite happy to promote us hating each other in order to deflect attention from them exploiting all of us - single mothers, welfare dependents, refugees, immigrants, blacks, you name it. As long as we don't focus our attention on the real problem - being screwed by the ultra-rich.
And you, Ben, and the like lap it up. Good on you lap dogs.
