  • So protestantism has failed?

    Just because the pope had political power, some klingons rewrote the bible and created a convoluted theocratic mosntrocity called capitalism that has been a minor pain in the butt.

    Now that america is a failed state and isolationism will basically return to protect da peoples from globalization, will they become catholic again or unicorn lovers?

    (then again weber never had in mind scandinavia)

      Yes Protestantism has failed. So you should make peace with the Pope.

          How do you define a "Failed State"?

            I don't think there is such a thing as a "failed state". I do consider that there are no nations though, but failed state I guess would mean something that lacked a national backbone, no connecting tissue and then it was run by the right wing.
            Failed states maxima are those that are barely functioning jungles.

              It's no secret.

              Protestantism = capitalism
              Catholicism = Socialism

                      The idea emerged after learning about weber, the german philosopher/social scientist who proposed that capitalism is not so much about an economic model as it is a theocratical approach model.

                      Through the "direct" rapport with god, came the glorification of indivindualism (even at the expense of family) and this gave birth to the idea that through personal striving you would become more "likable" to god.

                      If you search even deeper the jews believe(ed) that only some 144.000 or so will enter the kingdom of heaven.

                      Protestantism, through indivinduality and the economic model that ensued, got it twisted, on a subconscious level to the 144.000 "richest" will enter the kingdom to heaven.

                      Catholicism and orthodoxy have a lot in common (catholicism is just a side show of orthodoxy) so naturally there are a lot of common things.

                      One of them is the idea of community which automatically sets it apart from the protestant "indivindualism"

                      All of that of course, are mixed, interchangeable, alter affecting eachother all the time. And many times, many factors from the one co-exist within the other and vice versa.

                          I'm not a catholic priest.

                          Besides why would ben feel at ease?

                          He's a split personality according to that model.
                          catholic (so socialist) but feverntly in favor of capitalism (so protestant)

                          He's tormenting himself now
