		One of the important duties of school IMHO is, to make the pupils fit for life in a modern society.
And this also means that school should take care about removing prejudices the children may have (and replace them with actual knowledge)
And yes, even if the parents want the children to keep their prejudices.
It is like the teaching of the theory of evolution. Many parents (especially in the USA) don't want that their kid learns about the ToE ... because they don't want their kid to stray away from the christian creation myth.
But it is for the best of society (and the kids themselves) that the kids are "forced" against the will of their parents to learn about the ToE.
Similarly it is for the best of society (and the kids themselves), if kids in a multicultural societies get real knowledge (instead of prejudices) about other religions/cultures, even if it is against the will of the parents
