Are we allowed to make up quotes for our signature, and then attribute them to a poster? For example could I attribute a quote like "I could never be a priest, because gays can't be priests in my mind" to someone, and then just say I thought it amusing when asked to acknowledge it's not an actual quote? And then when asked to change it, add in some more made up ****.

Ben is making **** up in his signature, so I thought I'd check.

You can only use a quote from a poster if it is exact. You can NOT simply make something up and attribute it to a poster, or edit what was originally said.
Some posters have used direct quotes and removed them from the context so that somebody looks bad, but you just can't make something up.

If Ben can't prove you said it, or provide a link, he must remove it from his signature line.

Because I think that if you are going to quote someone, you should quote what they say, not what you want them to have said.
