    Good stuff.

I was there at the end of the 1990ies, and security was already tight - I guess because the troubles they had with islamists even before 9/11.

Arrived at the Red Sea, but later travelled to Cairo overland to see Pyramids etc. - all "convoy" style as well with busses plus any private car nearby in the middle and military escorts around. The Egypt Museum in Cairo had security comparable to an airport, which was unusual at this time (maybe not so much today even elsewhere).

That's odd, if there's one thing the French are usually excellent at its corporate retreats.

That's the funny thing. Our British overlords were the best at it. Of course they were all drunks and just looking for good parties.
We had a 35K barbill one night in Cairo.

I stayed in paris some nights.
price of the hotel room was 790 euros per night. all payed by the chinese
          (thank you very much )

never understood why it had such a price though. I think it had some very expensive paintings in it (but no curtains in the bathroom so everyone in the opposite hotel could see you gloriously taking a dump. don't get it but hey)

As promised, an explanation for why people in France drive so hazardly.

Toxoplasma gondii has a life cycles dependent on cats and rats and its effect on the brain is meant to make it easier for cats to catch rats, but sometimes cat excrements end up in farm animals' food, infecting them and passing it on to us. You only risk infection from meat if you don't cook it properly so it's mostly a problem in countries where heating meat can be a problem. France is the only European country where so many people are infected because French cuisine involves so much raw or mildly cooked meat.

This is of course not the only reason why French people are such aggressive drivers, but it does seem to be strongly linked to toxoplasma gondii.

(Also, if people don't want to get help after an accident, get help anyway because they might have brain damage)

It still astonishes me that anyone in Scotland survives past their 25th birthday, what with the fried food, alcoholism and acts of random violence.

I said a lot of stupid things in the past and none of it I support. I grew up a lot and gained more experience. My political views in the past were vile and I am ashamed of what I supported. Furthermore, Trump is a lunatic and someone who has no business being anywhere near the White House. Kidicious apparently lost his mind (not that he had much of one to begin with).

I support Hillary (she isn't perfect, but Trump is a mad man). That comment I made in the past about Hillary was totally wrong.

I am quite left wing. I am also gay. I have nothing against trans people and I believe in full equality (to clarify a comment made some months ago) .

You guys have wanted me to post... So here I am. I will never resort to the wretched stupidity and ignorance I have posted in the past. When one gains more experience and knowledge they become more liberal.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)
