John McAfee was easily the most interesting candidate for them but with the caveat that's he's actually insane.

You could also just do a write-in vote for Aeson or Ming, and have roughly the same effect on the future of the country.
If I wanted to vote for a pro abortion liberal democrat, I'd be voting Trump.

Well then I guess no choicers are just SOL this time around. What a shame.

So business as usual when Trump wins.

A Sane and Moral Choice for Prez

Are you saying that voting for your candidate is sane or moral, or that he is a sane and moral candidate? If the former, is it sane to vote for a candidate who will not become president (if the reason it's sane and moral to vote for that candidate is because of what that candidate's presidency would entail)?

The electoral college system, combined with the sheer population of our country, makes voting for president a hopelessly naive mathematical absurdity in the first place. It's probably best if you don't try to interfere with others' illusions of agency, Lori (even though I did it first). They might retaliate by digging up some engineer's extended criticism of Project Orion or something.

I recently had some thoughts about the whole my vote doesn't matter thing, but the current form of those thoughts is a stream of consciousness rant saved in notepad. We'll see if I have the energy to make it coherent. Should be writing.

The very last day I subbed this year, the kids in the gifted class got me involved in a discussion of politics somehow. I told them I hadn't voted in years, and then had to explain why. I then belatedly realized that various people would not appreciate me undermining their Civics class, and made a lame attempt, several minutes later, to explain the Tragedy of the Commons by way of undoing the damage. Erp.

I think people should vote for candidates who have no chance if they like their policies. I am not sure what game theory says about that but if you don't do it how else are you going to send out the information that you are looking for something else.

When you don't vote or vote for ****ty lesser_of_two_evils candidates you are effectively saying that you like lesser_of_two_evils and other people should not apply.

Not voting for the candidate who you like is similar to someone who *****es and moans how stores never have the goods that they want but when someone actually offers what they claim to want they never buy it.
Votes are like payments(money) and the only way to signal the demand for a policy is to pay. If you never pay no one is going to offer what you want.

I think instead of going to vote you should use that time and energy to do something more productive. Like post all the reasons you aren't going to vote, on Poly.

You told a class full of kids that you didn't vote?
