    (1) She was probably trained by Luke, too.
    (2) Kylo Ren (not a Sith lord--a Knight of Ren) had just taken a bowcaster to the gut.
    (3) He'd also been injured during his duel with Finn.

I'm gonna have to call bull**** on that one given the age we saw her being dumped on (Not) Tatooine.

I think it's fair to say Rey was trained somehow. Even if it was just the school of hard knocks. She took out those thugs pretty easily at the start.

Another hint of her powers came when she convinced an armed scavenger to give up the shiny new robot just by telling him to go away. He even left his net.

The movies have told us very little about Jedi training except that it starts early. Even Jake Lloyd was too old.

Luke had nearly zero "training" also. In Empire he had a week or something where he moved rocks around, then he came back in Jedi but Yoda promptly died. As Yoda said, his real training was facing his father.

It's magic, you don't have to like, take classes and pass examinations in it. The whole thing with the prequels where they have a bunch of kids in a room with blindfolds and lightsabers was ****ing stupid and they got rid of it.

Luke did the thing with blindfolds and lightsabers in A New Hope

                    Aye ...
during the hours or days of Hyperspace-Travel to Alderaan.
And during the final run on the first death star he already was able to sink his torpedo into the death stars hole,
just with the power of the force alone ... and no additional aids.

So maybe one can rationalize this with:
While certain techniques can be learned, the biggest influence is your own talent/strength with the force

Vader also beat the **** out of Luke in Empire. It was clear that Luke was outmatched and Vader was mostly toying with him to convert him. Luke didn't really complete his training until between Empire and Jedi. And his training was so tough, he went all emo afterwards.

As for Rey, it was demonstrated that she knew how to fight, at least with a bo, on Jakku.

How happy do you think the Stormtrooper with the anti-Jedi weapon was to finally have a use for it? Do they drag that stuff around with them on the off chance of encountering one or is it to protect themselves from Kylo in case he goes crazy and tries to kill them?

Just got back from viewing two. Honestly, Rey doesn't do that much Force-wise. She resists Kylo's Jedi mind probe (this is going to need a name), she struggles to do a Jedi mind trick on James Bond, Force snatches the lightsaber away from Kylo, gets the crap kicked out of her by Kylo, then has a "Use the Force, Luke" moment and manages to beat a very badly wounded Kylo. Eh.

                              I watched in 3D at IMAX. I don't think 3D adds anything.

I am really confused with the time in the films. 6 or 10 years since Ben went to the dark side? (same time since Rey's father? left?) Same time that Han was doing a smuggling and not fighting for the resistance. Also, it seemed that battle was joined within an hour or two. And people seemed to teleport between 'sets'.

I also wonder if Luke is a bit crazed?

The difference between the resistance and the Republic seemed a bit reasonable.

I would also compare Rey, in Force/specialness, to Anakin and not to Luke. Did you see her with the lightsaber?
