I watched it in 3D too and did not think it added much.

I am really confused with the time in the films. 6 or 10 years since Ben went to the dark side? (same time since Rey's father? left?)
Wasn´t it around 15 years, when Rey was ~6 years old?

Yep, considering the distances in the official map, it seems to be a little bit ridicuouls how fast they jumped between battles ...
even if we take into account that they have their Hyperdrives

This movie was derivative, silly, and generally failed to make sense. JJ Abrams seems incapable of telling an actual story rather than slapping a bunch of homages and easter eggs together and trusting them to do his work for him. I had a hard time taking the villain seriously even before he took the mask off; I get that he's supposed to be rather pathetic and vulnerable-looking, but that leaves the movie with no bad guy more impressive than the chromed stormtrooper ***** and yet another uniformed imperial officer (who gets a Triumph of the Will moment, because we wouldn't have known this massacre-happy, planet-destroying, brainwashing pack of thugs were evil without Nazi references, which we had already with the bad guys being called stormtroopers and stuff). Oh, and a giant hologram of some guy named Snoke. I spent much of the movie wondering what they were going for with "Snoke." A cross between snake and smoke? Snake and oak? Mostly he made me think of snooker, and wondering whether he liked to eat Snoke-ones on hot summer days.

With all that said, it contained no Force bacteria, little galactic politics (so little that the situation is actually rather muddled), no Gungans or other asinine comic-relief characters, and the jokes actually worked for the most part. So I'm content, thanks to the magic of lower expectations.

And, yes, she's presumptively Luke's daughter. I also suspect Han went out on that bridge intending to be killed for some convoluted reason which we'll discover in Episode 8 or 9. But maybe I only think that because the kid looks so much like Snape.

          Further questions:

          1. Where are the Knights of Stimpy, and what do they think about all this?
          2. Did anybody on the creative team ever think it might be kind of depressing to show the heroes of the original trilogy all being knocked right back to essentially the same position they were in at the start of ANH?
          3. Why was Ren hitting himself during the fight? It looked like he was smacking his own wounds. Was he trying to drive himself into some kind of dark-side rage, or was he just upset about missing People's Court?
          4. Will we ever find out why they had a map to Luke's location in the first place, with a little trail marked out, instead of a simple set of coordinates in space? Or why they have to transmit these things via unencrypted USB drives hand-delivered to blatantly insecure locations? My guess: no.
          5. Who the **** was the old guy at the beginning? Kylo Ren seemed to act like he was somebody significant, but according to Wiki he's "a Jakku village elder." Wiki also notes that Lady Chrometrooper will return, so getting shoved in a trash compactor on an exploding planet is apparently not lethal. Or maybe she'll be cloned, who knows.

That's the climactic moment in Ep 9. Hayden Christensen shows up blue-n-sparkly and tells Ben his whole sad tale. Halfway through Ben starts thinking "Oh God, I killed my dad and threw my life away just so I could emulate this dip****" and commits seppuku with his goofy lightsaber.

Perhaps Jump coordinates, of the hyperjump path that Luke took during his journey to the small irish isle where he is now.
If R2D2 was there the whole time, one would assume, however, that he had the whole jump path with him, all of the time (and that therefore the whole hunt for parts of the jump path puzzle was unnecessary, as they could just have it extracted from R2D2s RAM.

Before becoming a village elder on a backwater planet and former battlefield between the new rebulic and the empire, he was a famous galactic explorer

Ok I saw that stoppid little thing.

SOme questions, hans solo is killed by the l'oreal guy so that bear chubaka goes mental.

                        dramatic.

                        But I have some questions:

apparently there was some empire and some rebels.

the empire was bad the rebels good (how boring)

                        Ok.

So in the first star wars didn't the empire lost to the rebels (as it always happens?)

Wasn't the death star blown up?

                        How are they back now?

                        wtf is going on?

also some kids behind me were always talking about who was related to who in the movie and speculating.

                        just like family dinners.

He is his first cousin once removed from his mopthers side blaaaah blah

Unless it goes full circle and the empire always comes back and the rebels too

                          Someone said something about that

first it was the geriatric case and now the oversized gollum

                          bah

The empire didn´t just vanish just because the rebels blew up the second death star (and the emperor with it).

Both, in the Disney Star Wars universe, as well as in the books of the expanded universe pre disney, the new republic still had to fight for each and every system till the empire was reduced to only a small blob of star systems.
(Jakku was the site of a larger one of these battles, which is why there are lots of war machinerys strewn everywhere ... including the star destroyer which was willingly crashed into the planet so that it couldn´t get into rebel hands)

In the Disney star wars universe the new republic finally stopped and came to a truce with the remainder of the empire, keeping it in check with a series of mutual disarmament treaties (prompting the creation of the first order, of disgruntled imperials who didn´t want to keep peace with the rebels (and on the rebel side countered with the creation of the resistance in order to operate where truce treaties would prevent the new republic from taking action))

Ah, so the first order were a renegate fraction of the empire that still exists and there is a truce with the rebels who are the new republic..

so why doesn't the empire just deals itself with the first order (sounds like opus dei) how can they be trustworthy?

I suppose the old republic became the evil empire when darth veider listened to that geriatric case.

And the jedi were the "knights" of the old republic and now they want a piece of the action again by siding with the new republic against the empire (which is the old republic getting bad)

Ok. thanks, I think I got it.

Yup, makes sense. Still would've been nice to have the movie tell us some of this. The movie was fun but had some really obvious editing scars where you could just tell scenes had been deleted as they tried to cram three hours worth of plot into a 2 hour movie.
