It's true though. We all love a good 'Hero saves the day!' story, but the result a lot more frequently is that the wannabe hero ends up dead. Except then we don't usually hear about them, they're just another victim.

Have you ever thought about how stupid a captain going down with his ship really is? It made kind of sense a long time ago because it was an attempt to ensure a captain would do anything possible to AVOID his ship sinking, but as a moral guide its ****ing appalling.

Had the attackers gun not jammed and the passengers who resisted had been killed the staff would have been treated as heroes. "Brave train staff saved passengers by barricading them away from the attacker!". Instead the gun jammed and the attacker was subdued, so the staff are now cowards who 'ran away'.
