  • Oh. My. God.

I'm only following this on the BBC website text updates, but I've still had to go for a little walk to calm down.

    • This is a massacre. Australia are being torn apart out there.

      • Once someone gets to 3, why bother watching the remaining games? Do ratings drop off?

        • This is The Ashes. Every match matters, regardless of the numbers and statistics.

          • Speaking of stats, Australia's innings was the shortest opening innings in Test history- the only time a team has opened the batting and been fielding before lunch. Broad's bowling was the joint-fastest "five for" in Ashes history and the third-best bowling performance in Ashes history (only passed by the two innings in Jim Laker's 1953 miracle).

            Quite a day.

            • England finish the day 214 runs ahead with six wickets in hand. So either England win the Ashes, or we get to see the greatest fightback in Test history.

It has been said it is harder to get out of the Australian team than to get in, Watson a case in point. Until something like this happens.

                            • and just when you think things couldn't get any worse, Rolf bloody Harris gets in on the act

Paddy Power, a major bookmaker in Britain and Ireland and owner of Australia's Sportsbet, has said it will "destroy" an ad reportedly related to the Ashes cricket series between Australia and England that features disgraced Australian entertainer Rolf Harris, who is currently serving jail time in Britain for sex offences.

The ad, which places an image of Harris alongside the words "the only Aussie we don't want to get out", has appeared on social media pictured on a billboard despite the company's claims that "it will never be released in public".

We should use the remaining tests to blood new players, perhaps after sending those dropped to bludgeon Rolf in his cell.
