I picked up "credulous" from H.R. Trevor-Roper's The European Witch-Craze of the Sixteenth and Seventh Centuries, which I'm halfway through, and which makes much use of that word, along with incredulous, incredulity, and credulity, and probably more variants in the Latin, French and German quotes in the footnotes.
