      Spoiler:
Basically he dies in a ditch because of his infected wound, IIRC. Certainly no big fight at the end etc. Also in the TV series his fate is uncertain (most likely dead, but you don't know), in the book he definitely dies with a whimper...

Oh, Mobius. I suggest you read a certain passage of the fourth book again.

        Spoiler:
It is VERY strongly implied, if not outright stated, that Sandor Clegane is alive and well and as the gravedigging neophyte brother on Quiet Isle.

              Must have missed that...

Oops, long time ago - will have to recheck.

              In which case, good

Can't say as I'm actually rooting for Littlefinger but he did have the best line in Season 4

                Spoiler:
"I have only ever loved one woman in my life.
                Your sister." *push*

                I howled with laughter.

The problem is that the Littlefinger show line pales to the book line.

                            In the books, it goes:

                            Spoiler:
"I've only loved one woman, I promise you."

Lysa Arryn smiled tremulously. "Only one? Oh, Petyr, do you swear it? Only one?"

"Only Cat." He gave her a short, sharp shove.

It also comes at the very end of the book, where Lysa in her madness natters about how Petyr had her kill Jon Arryn, right in front of Sansa.

The scene placement has special resonance because of the epilogue that comes immediately after that line, but apparently will not happen in the show.
