Our nation (and perhaps your's, I don't pay attention to it much) has dramatically increased the number of rockets we launch recently (historical scale), but have not been able to reduce the number of pies eaten. As we live in a causal universe, we can thus conclude that your statement is demonstrably false about which change is easier to effect.

      • fat people want lurv but ain't getting it so they eat
smokers want a sense of accomplishment but they aren't getting it so they smoke (the nicotine other chemicals in cigarretes trigger the same chemical reaction that the brain triggers when you assume that you have completed something)

No one is saying that being a healthy weight is the only thing you need to be healthy.

I'm not saying anyone is saying that. I'm saying pretending weight loss is about one single factor is ridiculous reductionism.

                Of course. There's two factors.

It's great what rocket scientists achieve by ruthlessly eliminating excess weight.

                      • There are many paths that can be taken to reach the utterly necessary process of burning more calories than you consume in order to lose weight. People simply eating less and moving more is just one. However I'd suggest it's also the best.

I wonder when we'll ever see an obese astronaut.

                              • I think that's optional. The agencies specify that they need to be a healthy weight and leave it up to the individual. So you could, for example, go "Mmmmmm! I think I'll eat one less pie tonight, but without going to the trouble of analysing its calorific content down to the nearest picojoule!" and it would still probably work.
