    ****ing idiot (on this subject)

I'm looking forward to hearing your essay about how counting calories and knowing total daily energy expenditure is an exact process... and that you should be blamed for not doing it right

Motivation is a complex issue. It isn't as simple as you make it out to be.

This is self-evident. Proof? People find it hard to quit smoking.

        • The only "mistake" I've made is by taking this issue seriously. A lot of people struggle with weight. I don't mind being the "trollee" if it means I'm on the right side of this issue and end up helping one of you make some positive changes in your lives.

So yeah, if that makes me an idiot. I'll wear that proudly.

Assigning responsibility only serves to "other" people and make attacking them justifiable. I'm actually surprised to find you in support of that, c0ckney. You usually sound like a pretty decent guy. But then again, everyone has an inherent bias.

Taking responsibility should be the goal. That's why self-directed motivation works.

If you want to assign responsibility, FUCK YOU

If you want to encourage people to take responsibility, then

            • You're trying to turn obesity into a civil rights issue which is an insult to actual civil rights issues. Also, when you say "Taking responsibility should be the goal. That's why self-directed motivation works." YOU ARE ASSIGNING RESPONSIBILITY. BY YOUR OWN STANDARDS YOU'RE A BIGOT.

It's a slam dunk: (and forgive me if I'm off about what he's trying to say)

grib: calories in/calories out only matters, also being fat is a choice

sava: calories in/calories out matters, but so does a lot of other stuff, the issue of choice is unhelpful

if you believe in grib's argument, you are ****ing stupid

                          • Calories in/calories out is the mechanism for losing body weight. You really can't get away from it, unless you're proposing extreme liposuction or amputations.

                            • Indeed. Calories in/calories out is the mechanism. That's why, as you know, all skinny people own a reversible calorie pump which they affix to their mouths in the morning and their anuses in the evening. If you're too poor to purchase your own calorie pump, you can use the vacuum cleaner from your maid job as a makeshift one.
