I understand the quantity argument in a very abstract sense. Clearly, my odds are better if I ask rather than don't ask women out.

But why isn't that an argument to simply ask out every woman I get within earshot of? There needs to be some method of discrimination, and I base this fact only on the observation that people professing quantity over quality plainly don't ask everyone out.

So really we're arguing degree here. When have I conducted enough observation to ensure some minimum level of quality? Or is there some other reason not to blindly ask out every woman?

I would question your method of screening and observation. This is the failure point for most men. They eliminate too many suitable women.

It is impossible to truly judge a women without actually dating them. IMHO
So the more women you date, the more chance you have a finding a suitable one. The more you ask the more dates you will have.

There are only two things bad that can happen. You get rejected when you ask. (you get over this one pretty quick after a few successes)
And you end up dating some unsuitable women. (not the worst penalty to pay)

It's simple. Don't prejudge. Set real low standards and just go for it. You may find the diamond in the rough.

I like internet dating exactly for this reason. The women I meet online are there for one purpose. Dating. They want a man (or woman in some cases). There's never any guessing games. If you're talking with someone you met online, she's interested. All you have to do is not be an asshole.

Trying to get to dating mode with someone you know in real life is so much more complicated.
