              • There is just a bunch of scary **** coming out of Russia these days. Putin had a giant rally of supporters where they all repeated the lie that Ukrainians ditching a corrupt and unpopular government was some how an American and EU plot plus he had people vowing to take revenge against the west for this imaginary plot which was completely made up by Putin's propaganda. Oh, and, of course, Putin now wants to purge anyone who disagrees with him on anything, declares them all to be secret American agents, and threatens opposition members with arrest and firing from their jobs. Nothing but total personal loyalty to Putin is acceptable.

                • Printed media is one of the last bastions of a free media in Russia as the government has taken control of or censored all radio, tv, and Internet news. The dictator Putin, obviously, doesn't like this but freedom of the press is 3xpressly spelled out in the Russian constitution even as Putin has defined it to not include any other form of media. Never the less the government makes great efforts to use its powers to repress anyone who does business with the last few print publications which do not repeat the dictator's propaganda.

So one of those few, brave, publications recently took advantage of a Yeltsin era law tailored after the American Freedom of Information Act which was designed to allow people to know what their government has been up to in their name. The results are shocking but well known by anyone who is not a Putin bot.

The Russian government authorized it's invasion of the Ukraine before it's corrupt puppet government even fell. Putin read the writing on the wall and saw the Ukrainian people wouldn't accept one of the world's most corrupt governments staying in power and began organizing their invasion even before their puppet was out of power. This is key because Putin's propaganda claims Russia was never involved and that it was a spontaneous uprising against western imperialism in the east. The Russian government's own documents say that is a lie, that the Ukrainian people were upset with corruption and abuse of power, and that Russia would have to bribe people and run the invasion itself because there was no native uprising in the east.

Of course, that is exactly what Putin did. He invaded the eastern part of the Ukraine with the Russian army then paid local dupes to pretend that they were behind it as if an out of work automechanic could come up with hundreds of state of the art tanks and dozens of fully equipped and trained military units.

                              • It seems highly unlikely given that the Russian seporatists get all of their money and arms directly from Russia. It is a distinction without difference. Hell, the Russia Army does almost all of their fighting for them.
