Hi
This is Apolyton, so I'm not going to exert myself. Just an interesting hisrotical notice.
So 12 years ago there was a great scandal in Polish church, as it turned out the archbishop of Poznań, one of major Polish cities, was molesting young clerics. They were all adult... but it was a scandal. Among the most famous stories, he used to promise them trip to Rome, to the pope, if they did not oppose his caresses... he used to give them pants with "Roma" (Rome) written on them, and tell them to read it backword: Amor (love)... Some of them had depressions, one was in hospital. But some were very happy, as the archbishop f.e. made himself a clique of most handsome clerics who, in hand-sewn dresses and bathed in Hugo Boss, were serving his guests.
He was forced to retire and was forbidden a lot of stuff - much of which he was breaking.
Anyway, there was a new article on him & his victims: not by a tabloid, but a respected paper. He still is proud, and plans his revenge and come-back, so to speak... He's still a sexoholic, flirting with the photographer of the interview and asking for his number.
But it's not about that. It's about something that was very delicately touched by the report. It was that he was in 1976 or so but a very minor official in the Vatican. But once the passing pope Paul saw him, and asked about him. Soon afterwards, on pope's personal demand, he became one of the pope's closest associate, greeting the guests in his antechambre or so... The current lover of the archbishop mentioned also private photos of the now-archbishop and then-pope, in shorts and t-shirts... and then, without the shirt too.
It may actually be nothing. And there were rumours of Paul VI's homosexuality when he was still alive, but these were probably also fueled by religious bias. The archbishop's homosexuality is in no doubt... but pope Paul's is just a likely hypothesis.
Now don't get me wrong. It's not an attack on the church. It's just an interesting historical gossip.
