In the scientific community (i.e. outside of church) AFAIK noone defines a fertilized egg as a human.
Before the CNS is developed enough you have no thinking, feeling, consciousness being.
In case of the Amalekites (and other persons killed by god/the israelites) what was killed were thinking, feeling, conscious beings, however. Big difference.
