One of the people I work with regularly (who is not on SMART's payroll at all) is actually at the White House today discussing the successes she's had in her classrooms using modern education technology. I get treated like a rock star whenever I go into a school that actually knows how to make effective use of the technology. Our team gets fanmail from students all over the world. My product's been around for over 15 years, has profit margins north of 95% and revenues growing 200% year over year. Samsung, Epson, Sharp, Sony, and others are desperately trying to license it as it's a key factor for them to be successful in the education market. I'm being promoted regularly with huge raises, bonuses, and stock options.
So I'm working on a project that has positive real-world impacts that get affirmed regularly, it's making my company a lot of money, and it's a tremendous vehicle for my career and my personal wealth.
What am I making up for? I'm firing on all cylinders and I'm loving it.

The level of discourse here is actually more juvenile and ignorant than reddit. Gone are people like Adam Smith that could teach everybody a few things, replaced with ignorant brats with chips on their shoulders.

A smartboard can be treated just like a chalkboard - no question. Most teachers do that - it's true. That is their fault for not utilizing the potential of the technology in front of them. Most teachers, to be frank, just aren't very good at their jobs. They're unionized and they know they don't have to be.

I am sympathetic to the argument that teachers are largely bad at their jobs. This is undoubtedly true.Comment
