  • Is there any particular reason for this continuing determination to exclude black people from just the US figures?

Not sure how controlling for race provokes this conclusion. You're supposed to control for relevant factors in order to draw an accurate conclusion.
Why is race a "relevant factor"? Are you assuming black people naturally have shorter lifespans than white people do?

SOunds like Ben thinks that black people have any gene factors that decrease their life expectancy below that of whites (thereby screwing up USAs mortality statistics, due to the high percentage of blacks).

Guess this assumption is easier for him, than to face the truth that the US health system is inferior to "more socialist" health systems of other western countries

I'm guessing because multiple gunshot wounds are tricky to treat regardless of one's healthcare options? Or, more relevant, because including them would hurt BK's argument, and "Truth" is defined as whatever version of reality best fits BK's beliefs.

          • I guess he sort of has a point in that we shouldn't conflate our country's horrible race problem with its horrible healthcare problem?

            • also, even if we accept that blacks don't count, and as a result life the expectancies are similar, the US system cost in 2011 (according to the report which started this latest threadjack) $8,508 per person, without even providing full coverage, whereas the UK system cost $3,405 and provided full coverage. perhaps the position has changed somewhat in the wake of the ACA, but it's an enormous difference.

It's the typical fascist thrash argument in any debate about the benefits of socialized care vs US system. Drake Tungsten used to employ it.
