Okay. If that's the case, I completely agree with you.

This test is so dumb, it says I'm more of a leftie than Sava.

have expressed surprise at the similarity between obama and romney, yet what substantive differences were there between them? (this was in fact one of the main criticisms directed at romney by right wing republicans) what would romney have done differently if he had won in 2012? obama's flagship policy, the ACA, was even modelled on one of romney's!
Haven't I been saying that for ages?

You do realize that I tend to be far more 'right wing' than you or C0ckney when it comes to day to day political issues, right?

Also its funny that this response comes after this response to reg:

To be fair, it's actually the one thing you've been right about in the last five years.

The question is not whether the test lies but whether it tracks something real.

The test is for fun and not indicative of anything.

It's hilarious that people take it seriously.

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

to be fair imran, we've always had reasonably similar political views; even our journeys, from right to left have happened over a similar timescale. what's different is the prism through which we view the world and the events that we have caused us to change our views. you seem to have moved left, at least partly, as a result of your christianity (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong), whereas my leftward move comes, partly at least, from my experiences in brazil.

i think there are also times when we agree on the end bit disagree on the means. for example, we both want a more equal distribution of resources, but you prefer a state directed 'distributionist' scheme, which maintains private property, to achieve this, while i prefer to abolish the state and establish popular control of resources. although i am more radical than you, the end we seek is more or less the same, and this perhaps explains why you can come out as more left-wing on a test like this.

Wouldn't that make it far more silly to have me be more left than you? A more equal distribution of resources involving the state, maintaining private property, is FAR more conservative than abolishing the state and establishing popular control of resources, by many orders of degrees. The end is not necessarily similar, I think, as the society and the distribution of resources would look very different.

You're confusing the style of change with the economics. State-intervention in the economy is the economic left. On that issue, you are definitely more of a lefty than both of us (cockney, me). Most of the stuff I complain about involves getting rid of government intervention... or is largely neutral (adjusting the top marginal income tax rates back to 39.6, etc)
